About The Role 


The Strategic Communications practice of FTI Consulting is one of the world's most highly regarded communications consultancies, working in major markets globally. FTI Consulting Brussels is the largest Strategic Communications agency in Brussels. 


We offer a broad base of disciplines across a variety of specialist sectors including financial services, energy & natural resources, technology media telecoms (TMT) and healthcare & life sciences underpinned with expertise in corporate reputation, public affairs and legal services.

The Corporate Reputation team in Brussels advises global and European clients from communications disciplines and backgrounds, incl. Campaigning, Crisis & Issues, Data and Insights and Digital.
We are looking for an experienced communications professional to join our team, and who will work on Policy Communications, Issues & Crisis Communications and Corporate Reputation Campaigns. You will be able to demonstrate the fundamentals of creative and strategic thinking, where policy and reputation come together. An interest and affinity for corporate reputation transformation and policy issues is a plus. A Benelux background and experience advising Benelux companies at critical times is a plus.


 A successful Director is intellectually curious and a confident self-starter with the ability to organize and prioritize client and internal demands in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment. A Director will be comfortable speaking with media and the C-suite of the world’s largest organisations. The ability to develop and maintain a strong ‘trusted advisor’ relationship with teammates across FTI, is critical to success. You should be able to inspire and lead account teams, with a client-focused mindset and a commitment to delivering quality work at all levels. You begin to learn to identify and secure new business opportunities for the firm, and be committed to offering creative, integrated solutions to clients and in new business pursuits.

What You’ll Do

  • Offer Strategic Counsel: Provide expert communications, advocacy, positioning and other strategic communications counsel to clients.

  • Engage with Media: Be able to work with the media – traditional news, digital, trade, broadcast, podcasts – to shape coverage and secure meaningful engagement for clients.

  • Manage Key Accounts: Manage multiple accounts in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. This includes project planning, client relationship management, meeting client deadlines, managing billing/hours, and staying up to date on client information.

  • Be Creative: Bring outside of the box ideas to clients that highlight our team’s communications skills and the rest of the firm’s capabilities.

  • Stay Connected: Maintain relationships with journalists and producers, trade associations, think tanks, and relevant industry leaders to secure platforms for clients and enhance and grow business.

  • Be the Face of FTI: Attend conferences and industry events to prospect and network.

  • Coach and Mentor Others: Actively manage, develop, inspire, and motivate your team workers to excel.

  • Think Around the Corner: Anticipate potential challenges and evaluate strategies with senior management. Help clients identify and escalate risks in order to act and communicate with integrity.

How You’ll Grow

You will have the opportunity to be part of a dynamic and multinational team of experts and to work closely with other FTI offices and segments. You will participate in the development and implementation of communications campaigns for some of the most influential companies across different sectors as well as help clients protect their reputations while going through extremely critical times for their businesses. 


You will be given a day-to-day coach who will actively discuss your career progression and development through clear goal setting at the beginning of your time with FTI and through regular performance review discussions. On a day-to-day basis, you will learn how to manage clients and teams efficiently, playing a key leadership role as an account manager, and having regular check-ins with your coach to give and receive feedback, track goals and any other development points. You’ll also get variety with working across a team of experienced communicators and FTI’s breadth of experts to identify new clients and will be part of the new business process. This is an opportunity for a motivated, self-starter to guide a team and manage a portfolio of accounts.

What You Will Need to Succeed  
 

Basic Qualifications

  • Education: minimum Bachelor degree

  • Knowledge of media relations ideally with an understanding and network among international business and policy media. A network with Belgian and Dutch media is a plus.

  • Several years of experience in a communications role, either in consultancy, in-house, or journalism

  • Proven track record in delivering successful programmes and results-oriented

  • Capacity to manage priorities between multiple client assignments and firm initiatives

  • Excellent written and oral presentation skills – both in large group and smaller meetings; confident in discussing the changing communications landscape and its impact on reputation

  • Excellent command of English with French and Dutch language skills a plus

  • Team spirit and determination
