Job Description:

The Commercial Specialist – Project Proposal is responsible for the sales-specific projects, tasks and activities within the Enterprise Software solutions products i.e   Asset performance management (APM), enterprise asset management (EAM),  Energy portfolio management (ETRM).

This role will be responsible to translate objectives and requirements into workable plans and requirement documents and establishing goals and project scope.

Your responsibilities:

  • You will comply with the Health and Safety policies of Hitachi Energy and work with a team of solution, sales, finance and legal specialists, under the guidance of the Manager CAEP, during a presales phase, develop an understanding of an enterprise software implementation and construct estimates, project plans, WBS and project service delivery definitions to develop a customer facing Statement of Work (SoW).  

  • You will develop sub-contracting Teaming Agreements and SoWs, where applicable, working with existing or new service delivery or SI partners that reconciles with the associated customer fronting SoW.

  • Where required to you will work with customer commercial or project management staff to negotiate on project design aspects and SOW terms and conditions.  

  • Within a pre-contracting phase, you will work within the team to finalize customer SoWs, teaming agreements and sub-contracting SoWs to meet the Hitachi Energy legal and management standards and contribute content in master agreements with respect to the definition of a standard project delivery approach and associated terms and conditions that align with the objectives of Hitachi Energy and the Customer.  

  • You will create supporting SoW artefacts and documents, such as estimates, project schedules, resourcing strategy, risk registers and other supporting project SoW artefacts that substantiates the project definition and estimate.

  • You will support of the above, use standard templates provided within the Team or where instructed and ensure system and business processes are followed and system records are maintained and at all times in support of the above, represent the joint objectives of the project delivery function and the customer to define projects with achievable and risk mitigated scope, schedule and budget.       

  • You will summarize SoW constructs in order to maintain an overall portfolio of implementation project for forecasting purposes.

Your background:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field.

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in similar roles in working in ERP system/ Enterprise Asset Management software.

  • Experience in defining enterprise software projects (Project Management certifications are desirable)

  • Experience within an asset intensive industry; specifically, utilities, transportation, public infrastructure preferable.

  • Experience in leading customer negotiations to agree and close the SOWs and other project implementation aspects.

  • Designing enterprise software implementations and documenting them within project definitions / statements of work

  • Understands common implementation approaches for ERP / Enterprise Software.

  • Desirable to have worked within a commercial and or contractual setting.

  • An understanding of contracting concepts and continuous improvement mindset.

  • Writing skills to an advanced commercial level.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability and confidence to develop and present to senior audiences.
