Job Description:

Coastal Cancer Center is currently seeking an outstanding A/R Collections Specialist to join our busy Accounts Receivable team. This position is primarily responsible for the timely collection of outstanding patient balances in accordance with company compliance program.

Responsibilities (to include but not limited to):

  • Communicates with patients regarding their outstanding balances to avoid collection agency placement.
  • Reviews patient accounts daily to ensure all efforts are being made to collect.
  • Works consistently to reduce outstanding patient accounts receivable.
  • Identifies and resolves patient billing and payment issues.
  • Identifies and reports potential credit balances to Refund Specialist in accordance with refund policy.
  • Maintains confidentiality in regards to patient account status and the financial affairs of the company.

Qualifications:

  • Applicant must be able to work in a diverse environment with patients, co-workers and medical providers.
  • Must possess solid knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid and commercial insurances.
  • Understanding of deductibles, coinsurances benefits and out of pocket amounts.
  • Exhibits a pleasant and caring demeanor to the public and all company employees.

The qualified individual will have 2+ years experience in a collection department and/or medical position dealing with insurance, preferably in patient accounts. Be proficient with using computer systems including EMR and group practice systems as well as typing, faxing, scanning. Must also possess solid Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook skills and experience.
