Position Purpose

Seeking world-class talent to join the world’s leading distributor of automotive and industrial replacement parts and value-added services operating 5,500+ locations and servicing more than 20,000 locations in the U.S and Canada.  Specifically, this role will function as Director of Supply Chain Technology Integrations and Development. The role will be responsible for developing and leading one or more software engineering teams that own building and maintaining integrations across various Supply Chain Systems and developing in-house applications at GPC.  Working with a highly talented team, you will play a key role to build and run one of the world’s largest automotive and industrial replacement parts operations.

The Director of Supply Chain Technology Integrations and Development is a deep engineering expert in Supply Chain Technology. The ideal candidate is a thought leader around what is possible between customers, business, and technology. As an engineering leader, you will advance and support one or more teams responsible for the design, development, and integration of various Supply Chain systems and applications with a focus on continuous incremental business value in an agile environment. This position will work to foster an environment that promotes DevOps philosophies that enable efficient software deployments, high quality software, and empowers teams to do their best. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical aptitude in leading application engineering and development with a demonstrated ability to effectively lead a team of resources responsible for product delivery. 

The individual will work with senior leadership and other engineering and business leaders in a thought leadership role driving technology roadmaps and solutions for Supply Chain Technology. Close collaboration and alignment with infrastructure, network, application development teams and security will be required. As such, exceptional abilities in building and maintaining strong working relationships and organizational savvy will be required.  High level communication and presentation skills are required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a systems integration strategy that aligns with GPC’s overall business goals.
  • Oversee all aspects of systems engineering, including design and implementation for in-house Supply Chain applications.
  • Establish clear goals, priorities and delivery roadmaps for integration projects.
  • Lead and mentor a team of engineers and application developers (on-shore and off-shore).
  • Manage the planning, execution, and delivery of complex systems integration projects within Supply Chain.
  • Stay current with latest trends and technologies in systems integration and application development.
  • Manage relationships with vendors and partners involved in projects.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Implement best practices and standards for systems integration and application development.
  • Simplify the complexity of current platforms and reduce the technical debt and total cost of ownership.
  • Partner with peer leaders to accelerate and embed agile methodologies across the organization to increase customer-backed problem solving, to increase pace of solution delivery, to accelerate innovation and to enhance cross-functional collaboration.
  • Recruit, manage, and motivate a team of engineers and engineering managers to develop best-in-class solutions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Location

  • GPC has two work locations to choose from, Duluth or Atlanta office.

Desired Qualifications & Experiences:

  • The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor’s degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job
  • 12+ years of relevant work experience
  • Proficiency in integrating packaged software (such as WMS, OMS, TMS) with legacy applications and building custom supply chain solutions for retail or wholesale businesses
  • Industry recognition or significant expertise within the Supply Chain space
  • Mastery of vision, problem solving, innovation and distilling simple actionable solutions
  • Mastery of working as an engineering leader in a modern software development based enterprise environment and overseeing multiple products/platforms
  • Mastery of modern software development methodologies
  • Mastery of working in a fast paced, fluid environment where priorities shift on a regular basis
  • Mastery in communicating with and influencing functional and technical team members at all levels in the organization
  • Mastery of working as part of a collaborative, cross-functional, modern software design and development team
  • Mastery of identifying goals, metrics and analytics to measure product/platform performance
  • Proficiency in managing performance and growing team members in a professional setting
  • Experience breaking down Monolithic architectures into microservices via Domain Driven Design
  • Experience developing on cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, and Azure
