About you

You are a motivated, meticulous, and user-focused Software Engineer with a team-oriented approach and problem-solving skills. You are organized, proactive and take the initiative to prioritize your own work and projects effectively, with guidance from team leads and managers.

Fostering a workplace culture of 'individual humility and collectively proud', we look for team players. We value every voice and encourage mutual recognition of accomplishments. Your role involves the continuous celebration of both small and large milestones along with our global team.

About this role

Udemy is searching for a Software Engineer II who embodies our values of authenticity, continuous learning, experimentation, being results-oriented, and being individually humble, yet collectively proud. We expect you to be a practitioner of ReactJS, Typescript, MobX, NPM, and DataDog or similar monitoring tools to create performant web experiences. We expect a working knowledge of GraphQL, CSS, NextJS and Webpack. Our ideal candidate will be comfortable addressing moderately complex problems, including navigating projects with ambiguous parameters.

As an organization, we are ‘always learning’. This manifests in our habitual learning approach, constructive debates and plugging into our platforms for organizational learning. Your dedication to continual growth, openness to robust discussions and leveraging our solutions for learning will be pivotal.

Within the Learner Success portfolio, our mission is to help learners advance their professional skills so they can accelerate their careers with confidence. As a manager within the portfolio, you will be leading and building a team to help our learners onboard onto our platform, identify their learning goals, find the right learning content for them, and enhance their skills. We do this by leveraging our platform from recommendations, skills guidance, and GenAI, to name a few. You would be instrumental in driving experiences that enable learners to achieve their goals and improve their lives through learning.

What you'll be doing

  • Implementing product features using your practitioner skills in ReactJS, Typescript, MobX, NPM, and DataDog to meet our team's objectives.
  • Using GraphQL, CSS, NextJS and Webpack to ensure smooth execution of product features.
  • Generating value across multiple teams and applying basic concepts and procedures under guidance.
  • Following general instructions on routine work from your manager, and being able to comprehend detailed instructions on new assignments or projects.
  • Optimizing code and processes to help your team achieve their goals.

What you’ll have

  • A desire to always be learning.
  • Practitioner in ReactJS, Typescript, MobX, NPM, and DataDog or similar monitoring tools
  • Working knowledge of GraphQL, CSS, NextJS and Webpack.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, work with peers, and come up with creative solutions.

We understand that not everyone will match each of the above qualifications. However, we also realize that everyone has unique experiences that can add value to our company. Even if you think your background might not perfectly align, we'd love to hear from you!

Life at Udemy

  • Learning is what we do – inside and out. Our Learning & Development team is second to none, helping ensure your journey is one of continuous progression. • Our reason to exist is to revolutionize learning – that calls for taking risks and learning from failures.
