Chart Analyst - Health Information Management (HIM)

Under the guidance of the Supervisor, the Medical Chart Analyst is responsible for the analytical review of the medical records of discharged patients through EPIC, ensuring completion of all required documentation and authentication, in compliance with standards established by hospital administration, medical staff bylaws and accrediting regulatory agencies. You will analyze medical records identifying deficiencies in documentation and/or authentication. You'll assign attending physicians and residents responsibility for completion of deficiencies. Communicate with physicians apprising them of the status of their incomplete records via email.  Maintain the integrity of patient information within EPIC by entering all visits, completions and other appropriate data. Reviews, researches and corrects errors.

This is a full-time position day position, Monday-Friday 8:00am to 4:30 pm, at New York Presbyterian Westchester Behavioral Center.

Preferred 

  • Experience with EPIC

  • Experience in medical record operating procedures and systems, knowledge of medical/psychiatric terminology, documentation requirements and DSM IV Coding System

  • A College degree and HIM certification

Required Criteria

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Clerical and computer skills including typing and data entry

  • Knowledge of medical terminology

  • Detail oriented

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
