Job Responsibilities:
JOB SUMMARY
The Assistant Manager, Finance is responsible in supporting the review and preparation of group financial results, annual business plan, quarterly forecast, and quarterly and annual reporting under the policies and guidelines established by Magna. The Assistant Manager ensures the timely and accurate completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual close of multiple entities, and plays a key role in driving financial insights, governance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Lead the coordination and consolidation of global quarterly forecasts and annual business plan as part of global group office team
• Review and validate financial submissions from divisions, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and alignment with corporate guidance
• Prepare and present financial reporting packages and executive-level presentations for senior leadership
• Provide leadership and direction to divisional finance teams in resolving forecasting, reporting, and accounting issues
• Oversee the preparation of monthly consolidated financial results, recording journal entries when necessary
• Own the preparation and delivery of month-end reporting to head office and group management
• Drive variance analysis, providing clear insights into performance versus forecast and business plan, and proactively identify risks and opportunities
• Lead capital spending analysis and reporting, including challenging assumptions and ensuring alignment with strategic priorities
• Evaluation and assessment of identified divisional control and financial reporting deficiencies, assistance with development of correction actions and related remediation follow-up
• Involvement with annual detailed accounting reviews of all operating divisions
• Coordinate and prepare quarterly and annual information for external auditors
• Provide financial analysis and decision support to senior leadership (Group President, Vice Presidents, Director), including scenario analysis and business case review
• Drive process improvements and standardization initiatives across reporting, forecasting, and consolidation activities
• Lead or participate in special projects and strategic initiatives as assigned
OTHER
• May provide functional oversight and mentorship to junior team members or project teams
• Acts as a subject matter expert and escalation point for financial reporting and consolidation matters
• Contributes to building a high-performance, collaborative finance function across the organization
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education
• CPA designation (or equivalent) required
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
• 5-7 years of relevant experience; public accounting experience an asset
• Advanced experience in Microsoft Office, OneStream, or SAP an asset
