BigFuture brings together a trusted community to help every learner own their futureThe BigFuture Community team provides resources and support to reach and engage teens, parents and other caring adults, and K-12 educators.  BigFuture Community includes authentic, trusted content – featuring experts and peers – to demystify the college and career planning process while encouraging teens and their families to take action.  The team’s resources and support also include BigFuture Scholarships, which have awarded over $21 million to over 24,000 high-school students since 2019; the College Board National Recognition Program, which will celebrate the academic achievements of over 200,000 students of all backgrounds in schools nationwide; and BigFuture Ambassadors, which is a community of over 1,000 high school students who share free college and career resources with their classmates.  The team’s focus includes cross-functional coordination of go-to-market efforts to increase reach and engagement. 

 

About the Opportunity 

As Senior Director, Community Content Strategy, you will be responsible for the development, implementation and refinement of a content ecosystem for BigFuture products, which engage over 15 million unique users a year Together, with your team and cross-functional partners, you’ll demystify the path to college and career with information-rich, authentic, accessible, content, from articles to videos, to increase participation and deepen product engagementYou’ll lead the editorial strategy and agile planning and production processes that enable rapid, high-volume content for BigFuture.org and the BigFuture School mobile app.  As content lead, you’ll set and maintain a high bar for quality, consistency and coherence and function as a player-coach supervising staff responsible for producing great content.   Based on user feedback, engagement data, and landscape trends, you’ll continually refine the strategy and content outputs to deliver strong outcomes.  In partnership with the Product and Technology, you’ll evolve the content strategy to support personalized exploration and other product goals  

 

Roles and Responsibilities  

Strategic Editorial Leadership of Product Content (35%) 

  • Own and continually refine an editorial roadmap for production of multimedia community content for BigFuture.org, informed by student and parent needs, business goals and landscape trends 

  • Oversee research and alignment to narrow objectives, messaging and approach for community content generation 

  • Define ambitious quantitative goals for community content, track KPI’s, diagnose opportunities and gaps, and ensure robust tracking systems in partnership with Web Analytics  

  • Manage user research and feedback strategies and systems to gauge needs, surface content use cases and refine content 

  • Align community content plans and production with the BigFuture product vision and roadmap for personalized exploration  

  • Strategically curate and serve content via a content management system to optimize the Community Library and other content to drive log-ins and other product engagement metrics 

 

Content Production Systems and Quality (35%) 

  • Maintain, prioritize and manage community team’s backlog of content concepts and editorial calendar to drive timely, consistent and rapid content creation  

  • Establish and refine robust community team processes and systems to plan, create and review high-quality content 

  • As content lead, set staff expectations and screen all content for quality, accuracy and alignment with brand positioning, voice and style guidance 

  • As player-coach, regularly implement all aspects of content production, including research, planning, interviewing and partnering with internal and/or external production teams while simultaneously managing community content team  

  • Manage productive relationships and systems with vendors to ensure economical, efficient delivery of high-quality content  

 

Cross-functional Leadership and Team Management (30%) 

  • Surface content-as-product outcomes, use cases and needs to Product and Tech teams and support as a consultant throughout discovery, design and implementation processes  

  • Surface go-to-market needs and outcomes and track cross-functional go-to-market efforts to grow student and parent audiences, expand reach and strengthen the BigFuture brand 

  • In partnership with Engagement and Reach Team, set direction and provide feedback on leveraging community content to promote BigFuture  

  • As manager of community content staff, own all aspects of team and people development, including clarifying priorities, setting expectations, evaluating performance and attracting talent 

 

Preferred Skills and Attributes 

  • Excellent writer capable of rapid, high-volume generation of accurate, compelling content 

  • Experience in content strategy and multimedia creation, including video, articles and graphics 

  • Experience/instincts to guide Gen Z/Gen Alpha teens in meaningful college/career exploration  

  • Experience as team lead, either as people manager or as project lead in matrix environment  

  • Strong quantitative orientation to diagnose, prioritize and assess as a routine way of working  

  • Strong emotional intelligence to reach business outcomes via cross-functional partnerships 

  • Experience tracking and managing to KPI’s via with Adobe Analytics, Tableau and other tools 

  • Strong organizational and project management skills 

  • Experience managing team workflows and dependencies via Monday.com or similar tools 

  • Experience leveraging Drupal or similar content management systems to optimize content 

  • Strong management instincts or experience to maintain a high bar for quality and efficiency 

  • Comfort or experience in matrix environment

About Our Process

A Thoughtful Approach to Compensation 

  • The hiring range for this role is $96,000 – $150,000
  • Your exact salary will depend on your location, experience, and how your background compares to others in similar roles at College Board.
