This is a temporary position with an anticipated duration of approximately 12 months, though there is some flexibility in this period. The Employee Relations (ER), Policy & Employment Law Team at Linklaters provides strategic and pragmatic guidance on a wide range of HR and contractual issues.

The team operates in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, consisting of two employment lawyers, an ER manager, and a senior ER advisor.

Your primary responsibility will be to support the employment lawyers and the wider team in delivering exceptional service to our internal stakeholders within the business. You are expected to be present in the office at least two days per week, ideally on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate should possess strong IT skills, particularly in using Excel and Word, alongside proficiency in various platforms and supporting technologies.

Success in this role requires a proactive approach, excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills, as well as keen attention to detail.

Prior experience as a paralegal, whether in-house or in private practice, is essential. A strong interest in employment law or proven experience in an employment law setting is highly desirable.

Educational Requirements

Candidates should have successfully completed either the Legal Practice Course (LPC), SQE 1, or be a qualified lawyer from the UK or abroad.

Responsibilities

Service Delivery Management:

  • Manage the ER inbox.
  • Aid lawyers with daily ER queries.
  • Conduct ad-hoc legal research.
  • Assist with the production and management of documents (e.g., settlement agreements, contracts, and bundles).
  • Manage and update the library of templates and know-how.
  • Update contract and policy templates.
  • Maintain document management systems, case trackers, and incident logs.
  • Support managed leaver processes and scheduling (e.g., setting reminders for re-signing settlement agreements and Employment Tribunal deadlines).
  • Help draft training materials and internal legal updates.
  • Perform note-taking duties during meetings.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently when required.

Additional Role Expectations:

  • Stay informed on legal developments by attending both internal and external seminars/webinars, sharing knowledge gained with the ER team.

  • Contribute to internal know-how and documentation.
