Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Manager 2.  This position is located in Roy, UT and supports the Sentinel program.

What You’ll Get To Do:

The selected candidate will be asked to lead the Manufacturing Engineers (ME) supporting the development of ICBM Sustainment (ICBMS) support work and proposal activities for Advanced Programs (AP). ICBMS deals with ground support equipment for the daily upkeep and maintenance of the existing MMIII ICBM system. This work covers mechanical, electrical and comms gear. AP proposal work supports development and test of new systems for the current and next generation of launch vehicles and their components. The position will be as a member of the Sentinel Manufacturing leadership team, interfacing with multiple IPTs, customers and suppliers.  You will lead the team of Manufacturing Engineers for the execution of specific SOWs which are provided by the Sustainment and AP IPT Manufacturing LeadsThe individual will have working knowledge of ME related processes for writing proposal elements such as Basis of Estimates, manufacturing plans and supplier capability assessments. Additionally a working understanding of basic ME shop support processes such as BOM review, work instruction development and control, mechanical, electrical and electronic fab/assy for Sustainment support. 

This Manufacturing Engineering Manager 2 position has the following duties and responsibilities: 

  • Collaborate with the AP and Sustainment IPT Manufacturing Leads to assess SOW requirements for the execution of contractual requirements related to Manufacturing/Manufacturing Engineering for the various mechanical, electronics and structures SOWs 

  • Develop and co-ordinate accurate and executable resource plans, Integrated Master Schedules, work plans and associated Visibility Metrics 

  • Provide guidance and direction for the team of Manufacturing Engineers who are executing the SOW requirements

  • Collaborate across the ME Team to ensure consistency in the use of Digital Engineering processes, tools and methods for accomplishing the development work leading to Production 

  • Develop team members for growth in work scope capability and job satisfaction

  • Establish milestones and monitor adherence to master plans and schedules, identify program opportunities for improvement and obtain solutions as applicable

  • Conduct assessments of team member’s performance related to team and individual goals 

  • The candidate will need to demonstrate exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills, and to have the ability to multi-task and communicate effectively with varying levels of Customer, Suppliers and company leadership

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

You’ll Bring These Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical or business-related field and a minimum 6 years of related experience, or a Master’s degree with a minimum of 4 years of experience

  • Must be a US Citizen with an Active DoD Secret Clearance with an investigation date within the last 5 years

  • Just have the ability to obtain Special Program Access (SAP)

  • 1 year of experience leading a technical project and/or driving performance against schedule ​​

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have: 

  • Prior experience operating in a dynamic environment of increasing production schedules and high delivery rates 

  • Previous experience interfacing with multiple suppliers across a wide range of products for ensuring product manufacturing capability and on time delivery 

  • Preferred candidate will be a proven leader; problem solver; possess a strong work ethic; and have excellent communications and interpersonal skills required to work closely with teammates, stakeholders and both internal and external customers. 

  • Familiarity with Northrop Grumman Manufacturing Engineering, processes and procedures. 

  • Knowledge and experience with Production Planning functions

  • Experience working with Systems Applications and Products (SAP) 

  • Prior experience with ICBM Command and Launch mechanical, electrical and electronic systems 

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills 

Salary Range: $108,400.00 - $162,600.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
