Your Impact

You will be leading the development and teams that delivers best of class technology that will change society as a whole, while furthering Axon’s mission of Protect Life and Capture Truth! You will lead some of the best and brightest program managers and engineering teams to develop the best possible products from early concept all the way to getting it to market. You will need to manage a team that can be agile, adaptive and creative to find the best solutions for the most critical of products – helping to drive functional collaboration.

As the Director of Engineering Program Management, you will own the entire product development lifecycle from concept to launch and beyond. You will own and adapt the process to meet the growing companies needs. Your role will ensure seamless execution and delivery, balancing customer needs with business objectives.

We make products for law enforcement, consumers and society as a whole – so being able to understand the balance and trade-offs to get the best possible products out there is critical.


What You’ll Do

Location: Scottsdale, AZ office - On site
Reports to: VP New Product Introduction

Direct Reports: 5-10 Directs 

  • Strategic Leadership and Lifecycle Oversight: Define and execute the strategic roadmaps for hardware programs. Manage the full lifecycle of hardware products from concept to market launch and end-of-life. Manage the process for which our products are developed under.
  • Cross-Functional Team Leadership and Operational Alignment: Lead and integrate cross-functional teams, including electrical, mechanical, industrial design, software, firmware, and manufacturing, to execute product development processes. Ensure alignment between product strategies and operational capabilities to achieve cohesive and efficient execution
  • Financial and Resource Management: Oversee and allocate budgets and resources across hardware programs. Ensure alignment with financial goals and efficient use of operating and capital expenses.
  • Portfolio and Prioritization Management: Manage the entire portfolio of hardware projects. Set priorities and resolve conflicts to ensure timely delivery of critical tasks and objectives.
  • Development and Leadership of Team and Organization: Build and mentor high-performing teams. Foster a culture of autonomy and excellence, driving organizational growth and process improvements.
  • Stakeholder Communication and Engagement: Maintain strong relationships with stakeholders up to, and including, the executive level. Communicate effectively about program progress, challenges, and strategic directions.
  • Analytical Thinking and Problem Solving: Apply critical thinking and analytical skills to perform trade-off analyses and resolve complex product development challenges. Demonstrate adaptability and problem-solving capabilities to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and drive innovative solutions.

What You Bring

  • 10+ years of relevant work experience in program management in hardware development
  • 5+ years of experience in building processes, project management, and schedules
  • 5+ years of managing and creating budgets
  • Experience and strong understanding of basic engineering principles and development
  • Understand and communicate complex, technical/Engineering issues
  • Identify and resolve conflicts, inter-dependencies and program issues quickly and efficiently

The Pay: Axon is a total compensation company, meaning compensation is made up of base pay, bonus, and stock awards. The starting base pay for this role is between USD 171,525 in the lowest geographic market and USD 274,440 in the highest geographic market. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: level, function, training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, geographic market, and often a combination of all these factors.
