Position Overview
The ESS Campus Coordinator serves as both an instructional leader and a compliance monitor for special education within a K–8 campus. This position ensures that students with disabilities receive a free and appropriate education in the least restrictive environment (LRE) while maintaining strict compliance with federal, state, and district policies.
The ESS Campus Coordinator supports and coaches staff, monitors program compliance, collaborates with families, and serves as the Local Education Agency (LEA) representative in special education meetings. The coordinator is responsible for building the capacity of general and special education staff, improving student outcomes, and ensuring high-quality implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with general and special education teachers to plan, implement, and differentiate instruction aligned with IEP goals.
Provide modeling, co-teaching, and coaching to support effective instructional practices in inclusive and self-contained settings.
Assist in analyzing student data to inform instruction, interventions, and progress monitoring.
IEP Compliance & Support
Ensure IEPs are developed and implemented in accordance with IDEA and Nevada state guidelines.
Assist staff in writing compliant IEPs that include present levels, measurable goals, and specially designed instruction.
Support case managers in managing timelines, documentation, and compliance requirements.
Review draft IEPs at least 48 hours prior to meetings
LEA Representation
Serve as the LEA representative at evaluation, IEP, 504, and transition meetings.
Ensure implementation of an IEP
Know school resources and what is available to families within the school programming.
Represent the school in resolutions as needed.
Professional Development
Plan and deliver professional learning on instructional strategies, behavior supports, inclusive practices, and legal compliance.
Mentor and support new special education teachers and related service providers with but not limited to onboarding of programming, resources and tools available.
Lead school-based training on compliance systems, electronic IEP platforms, and program expectations.
Collaboration & Consultation
Serve as a liaison between special education staff, campus administration, LTS District Administration and Vertex ESS personnel.
Collaborate with general education staff, related service providers, and intervention teams to support student success.
Partner with families to problem-solve, build capacity, and support the implementation of their child’s IEP.
Participate in MTSS meetings, multidisciplinary evaluations, and interagency collaborations.
Program Monitoring & Improvement
Monitor student progress and program implementation
Assist with internal audits, state monitoring, and corrective action procedures.
Maintain compliance lists, schedules of due IEPs/re-evaluations, and program profiles.
Track caseload assignments and ensure LRE considerations are prioritized.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of special education programs and practices.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
Valid Nevada teaching certification in Special Education.
Minimum of 3–5 years of successful teaching experience in special education.
Strong knowledge of IDEA, Section 504, MTSS, and relevant Nevada regulations.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate with staff, parents, and community stakeholders.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and ensure compliance with strict timelines.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
Periods of sitting, standing, phone communication, kneeling, and extended concentration required.
Local and in-state travel required.
Background Check & Clearance
Must pass a criminal history background check.
