What will you contribute?
Finastra’s Global Data Office is responsible for the strategy, governance, and enablement of data assets across 110+ countries globally to unlock innovation for our business units and 7000+ customers, including 80% of the world’s top banks. The Data Governance Lead will work closely with the firm’s Head of Data Governance to execute a comprehensive and aggressive program to unify our policies, programs and platforms to secure, understand and leverage these data assets globally. This team will help drive a global transformation in data governance which will not only meet and exceed security, regulatory and compliance requirements, but also accelerate innovation in the development of data, analytic and AI products, unlocking new opportunities for monetization.
Responsibilities & Deliverables:
Execute projects as part of a comprehensive program to catalog the entire global data estate – both corporate and customer data
Identify taxonomy for tagging sensitive, PII and compliance/regulatory impacted data elements
Review and refine global data security, access, usage and quality standards, policies and procedures
Liaise regularly with partners in Compliance, Risk, Product and Analytics groups to capture requirements and deliver outcomes for governance initiatives
Drive adoption for a unified compliance automation platform that will service regulatory requirements and requests across 130+ countries
Drive adoption of platforms for data access control and monitoring, data quality, data lineage, data enablement
Run data stewardship program across multiple business and operational functions
Define and track KPIs for overall maturity of the data governance function, including specific measures for quality, literacy, and usability
Required Skills & Experience:
Strong experience in data governance, data security, data lifecycle management (including creation, retention, archival, disposal), data quality, regulatory and compliance requirements and reporting
Proven track record executing multiple enterprise data governance projects in highly regulated industries
Experience working with systems for CCPA, GDPR and/or other privacy regulations
Experience with at least some of the following platforms: automated discovery driven metadata catalogs, compliance automation platforms, master data management platforms, data quality and lineage tools
Execution-oriented mindset, focused on achieving project outcomes within tight timelines
Experience as a data steward / data owner – responsibilities include at least some of the following: business and technical metadata definition, quality rules and serving as an SME for a data domain
Strong ability to mentor data governance analysts, stewards and SMEs
Very strong general knowledge of data management and data platforms
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
