Position Overview: Join TEP as part of the facilities support team!  Responsibilities include driving the TEP van between campuses, maintaining the school campus, deep cleaning of the facility, and daily operational tasks. 

This individual will typically work 8 hours per day Monday through Friday.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Drive the TEP van between campuses, delivering and picking-up food for students.
  • Clean classrooms and offices according to schedule, including desks, furniture, floors and windows
  • Sweep, mop, strip and buff floors where necessary
  • Inspect, clean, disinfect and stock bathrooms on a daily basis
  • Upkeep school exterior including sweeping, trash and recycling collection and disposal and snow removal as needed.
  • Keep storage rooms organized and monitor inventory levels of supplies and timely communicate needs to Facilities Supervisor
  • Perform minor repair work including but not limited to plumbing, electrical, painting, and carpentry
  • Unload and transport deliveries to mail room as needed
  • Set up and break down rooms for special events
  • Respond to facilities related requests from staff in a prompt and courteous manner
  • Alert Facilities Supervisor of any facilities related deficiencies or safety hazards encountered during regular rounds such as lights, doors, locks, and bathroom fixtures.
  • Perform special projects during school breaks that may require heavy lifting (up to 40 pounds), light repair, and deep cleaning of school spaces.

Qualifications/Personal Attributes:

  • Valid New York State driver’s license and clean driving record, required
  • Prior experience as a delivery/commercial driver and in maintenance/facilities
  • Positive attitude and dependable work ethic
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time, work outdoors, and lift and carry objects weighing up to 40 pounds
  • Open, flexible, and adaptable to new challenges and tasks as they come up
  • Passion for what you do – you understand how what you do helps TEP operate day-to-day
  • Adaptability and flexibility – you recognize that in the food and delivery industry, anything can – and will – happen and you’re able to calmly troubleshoot issues.
  • Must obtain clearance for employment from the State Educational Department based upon a fingerprint and criminal history background check
  • Must be able to speak, understand and communicate in English

    NOTE:
    In adherence with Department of Health guidelines, all charter school staff is required to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination. To request a medical accommodation from the COVID-19 vaccination requirement, supporting documentation from a qualified medical professional must be provided and is subject to review and approval by the school.

Compensation: Hourly rate of $18 per hour with weekly evening shift hours varying between 35 to 40 hours per week along with occasional weekends and overtime work.  Paid sick and holiday time may be used after 120 days of employment.  Medical, Vision and Dental plans are available.  TEP also offers a retirement plan, life insurance, Dependent Care FSA and other benefits.
