What Is the Opportunity?

This role is an exciting opportunity to work with one of the largest employers of P&C actuaries and data scientists in North America. As an Actuarial Intern within the Research and Development team, the candidate will be exposed to many data science concepts and techniques.

The Actuarial Internship Program provides qualified students with an excellent opportunity to gain first-hand experience, receive valuable on-the-job training and learn more about the property & casualty insurance industry.

What Will You Do?

  • Support both PI Auto and Property lines of business through development of analytical solutions to business problems.
  • Engage in pricing segmentation work including evaluating, building, and presenting statistical models.
  • Develop your understanding of key business areas (e.g., product, enterprise, industry, claim process and competitors) that enable project work.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


As a member of the Actuarial Department, the candidate will act as an effective contributor to their team, and will interact with insurance professionals from underwriting, claims, finance and information systems as necessary.

Because the Actuarial Internship Program itself is complex and dynamic, we welcome applicants that have a variety of majors, backgrounds and experiences.

What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?

  • Knowledge of statistical techniques with the ability to learn statistical software programs
  • Execution focused with the ability to complete assigned steps to support analysis
  • Ability to develop an understanding of advanced statistics underlying data models
  • Ability to apply statistical procedures to work as directed
  • Developing knowledge in: Regression, Classification, Machine Learning
  • Knowledge of Python and SQL or SAS preferred
  • CAS Exams and prior P&C experience are an asset


Targeted Majors:
Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics or equivalent.
