We are seeking an experienced Software Engineer III for a key role within Financial Technology – AP Payables . This role will build scalable data ingestion pipelines, domain data models, AI-powered reporting solutions, and intelligent agents that modernize Accounts Payable operations and enable the next generation of AI-driven financial automation. About the Team: It’s an exciting time to be part of Walmart’s Finance modernization journey. Our AP Payables organization is transforming how financial data is ingested, modeled, analyzed, and operationalized using scalable data platforms and AI-driven decision systems. EBS provides shared services globally across Walmart’s lines of business, including Finance, People, Digital Experience, and Global Governance. Our mission is to build resilient, intelligent financial systems that drive operational efficiency, compliance, and cost optimization at enterprise scale. What You’ll Do: • Contribute as a core member of an engineering team building scalable data ingestion, transformation, and AI-driven solutions for AP Payables. • Design and develop high-performance data ingestion pipelines using Dataproc, Spark, and Python to process structured and unstructured financial data at scale. • Build and maintain robust data transformation and modeling frameworks using DBT, SQLMesh, and SQL, creating domain-aligned, audit-ready financial data models. • Develop and orchestrate end-to-end ETL/ELT workflows using Airflow, Dagster, or Prefect, ensuring reliability, observability, and data quality. • Perform exploratory data analysis (EDA), root cause analysis, and reconciliation analysis to identify financial discrepancies and recovery opportunities. • Build interactive, business-ready reporting and analytics applications using Streamlit , Dash, Looker and Power BI to enable actionable insights for AP stakeholders. • Develop action-oriented microservices and APIs using Flask, FastAPI, and Python to operationalize analytics and automate financial workflows. • Design and implement intelligent agents leveraging Claude Code, Codex, MCP integrations, and skill-based agent frameworks to automate investigations, dispute analysis, root cause detection, and decision support. • Apply AI/ML techniques including Clustering, Classification, Decision Trees, Forecasting, XGBoost, and LightGBM to improve recovery detection, anomaly identification, supplier risk scoring, and financial forecasting. • Implement CI/CD automation for data pipelines and applications, ensuring code quality, version control, automated testing, and deployment reliability. • Drive adoption of best practices in data engineering, AI development, and cloud-native architecture while continuously benchmarking against industry standards. What You’ll Bring: • Strong experience in data engineering and backend development, with proven delivery of scalable ingestion and transformation systems. • Hands-on expertise in:

  • Airflow, Dagster, Prefect (Orchestration & Workflow Automation)
  • Streamlit, Dash, Looker and Power BI(Reporting & Analytics Applications)
  • Flask, FastAPI, Python APIs (Actionable Services Layer)
• Experience building and deploying AI/ML models using Clustering, Classification, Decision Trees, Forecasting, XGBoost, or LightGBM in production environments. • Familiarity with Agentic Development frameworks, LLM-based automation, Claude Code, Codex, MCP integrations, and skill orchestration patterns. • Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines for data and application workflows with automated testing and deployment practices. • Proficiency in designing scalable, maintainable, and observable data systems. • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to diagnose complex data issues and drive measurable impact. • Experience collaborating across Product, Finance, and Engineering stakeholders in Agile environments. • Clear communication skills with the ability to influence technical direction and mentor team members. • Passion for leveraging AI and data engineering to modernize enterprise financial systems.

The annual salary range for this position is $90,000.00 - $180,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
