This is a hybrid role based out of our Headquarters office in Portland, OR. In-office expectation is 3 days a week.
ABOUT THE POSITION
The Corporate Responsibility team (CR) drives companywide initiatives focused on empowering people, sustaining places and in enhancing responsible business practices. Our work includes climate management, sustainable and responsible manufacturing, chemicals management and global community impact. The Community Impact team focuses on Empowering People through community partnerships.
As the Community Impact Manager, you will oversee Columbia Sportswear Company’s (CSC) charitable giving efforts in support of the company’s corporate goals. Here you’ll partner with leadership across Columbia Sportwear Company’s brand platform - Columbia, prAna, Sorel and Mountain Hardwear to identify non-profit partners and causes that align with each brand’s mission and vision.
HOW YOU’LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE
Create strategic initiatives and design benchmarks to drive business growth, build deeper consumer and community connections, and create positive social and environmental change.
Direct the management and administration of the global community programs for Columbia Sportswear Company; including nonprofit partnerships, cause marketing initiatives, community investments, humanitarian relief efforts; that support the business goals of each brand
Strategically engage with brand leaders and internal teams to ensure community programs support their strategic plans and business goals
Establish and ensure departmental practices and policies maintain the quality and consistency to meet operational demands and audit requirements, as well as comply with international legal and operational requirements. This will be accomplished through partnership with internal and external stakeholders and direction on training and other resources
Lead and strategize department messaging to internal and external stakeholders through collaboration with sr. management, functional/brand leads and marketing/PR business partners.
Leverage department’s engagement with various global stakeholders (NGO’s, colleges, consumers, customers, government agencies, etc.) to advance Columbia Sportswear Company’s interests, promote our Sustainability initiatives, benchmark and strengthen our program, and to promote innovative and industry leading change
Engage with media outlets and trade press on specific issues and company initiatives
Be a conduit for research on emerging community issues and recommendations for organizational engagement, and drive widespread understanding of our community program by executing training programs (including creating relevant materials/content) to internal teams and other external stakeholder groups
YOU ARE
Creative and innovative, especially in written communications
Organized with strong attention to detail
Skilled in complex interpersonal communication and interactions, with a knack for decision making and problem resolution
Adept at working independently and effectively under pressure
Practiced in discretion
YOU HAVE
Bachelor's degree or equivalent education/experience
10+ years’ experience in Corporate Responsibility programs
Experience and specialization in community affairs, corporate social responsibility, corporate relations, public relations, marketing, communications or related field
Experience in managing public campaigns
Experience managing direct reports
Expert knowledge of community relations, 501C3 not for profit organizations and corporate giving guidelines, national organizations such as The National Society for Fund Raising Executives, and overall public relations functions
Proven presentation ability, including journalistic writing skill, public speaking, and advanced PowerPoint and Excel
