Reporting to the Head of the Americas Region, the Head of Facilities Management – Americas Region is responsible for ensuring safe, sustainable, and cost-effective operations of all facility management activities across AIG’s Americas Region which is comprised of 82 locations across nine (9) countries with a total of 2.26M square feet and an annual operating budget of $141M. This position will manage a team of internal resources and vendor services to provide exceptional delivery that meets the needs of our clients and users.

About the role

  • In collaboration with the Head of the Americas Region and the Global Head of Facilities Management, create a consistent Facilities Management strategy that delivers exceptional and effective programs aligning with AIG’s needs and industry best-practices
  • Develop and maintain a strong understanding of our businesses to anticipate facility management needs and requirements
  • Promptly respond to and action client requests and feedback
  • Partner closely with leaders in Real Estate, Business Services, Design & Construction, and our functional partners including Legal, IT, Finance, Procurement, HR, and Communications to ensure flawless execution of services and programs on a daily basis and a positive workplace experience for all employees
  • Develop strong vendor relationships and oversight to ensure a high level of client service
  • Manage a motivated and high performing team of staff and vendors that operate with a service-oriented mindset, sense of urgency, and efficiency
  • Improve team capability and performance by providing clear roles and responsibilities, coaching, feedback, and recognition
  • Establish and manage global standard operating procedures and processes
  • Manage compliance programs including Fire and Life Safety (FLS) and Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) to support global, local, and site requirements
  • Responsible for KPIs that measure the effectiveness of our programs including service levels from our vendors are being met as contracted
  • Continuously review our list of vendors and work closely with Procurement with consolidating and/or sourcing new vendors
  • Work closely with Finance to develop and manage the budget and forecast for Global Facilities Management
  • Provide clear and frequent communication of Facilities Management updates to ensure Leadership is aware and aligned prior to execution
  • Partner closely with Corporate Communications on notifying employees of any critical Facilities Management updates

What we are looking for:  

  • Bachelors’ or Master’s degree and 15+ years of experience in Facilities Management, Maintenance, Operations, and/or Engineering
  • Broad technical knowledge of facility operations, infrastructure, engineering, and systems
  • Ability to balance need to work within budgets while ensuring quality and timeliness
  • Exceptional time management skills and the ability and presence of mind to escalate issues when required
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong ability to work with clients at all levels of the organization including multi-discipline senior executives
  • Strong proficiency in compiling and presenting written project correspondence to executive leadership
  • Self-starter with a demonstrated record of managing a high-performing team of staff and vendors in delivering exceptional programs with strong project management skills
  • Must possess strong conflict management, communication, organizational and negotiating skills
  • Detailed knowledge of business services and systems and implementing corporate policies
  • Strong working knowledge of full MS Office suite, with role appropriate financial modeling/management skills in Excel
  • Recent experience leading through significant change, growth, and innovation
  • Insurance/Financial Services experience preferred
