Job Summary:

Responsible for leading controllership activities for Xylem’s greenfield Monterrey facility.  Serve as a key business partner to Monterrey facility leadership.  This position is responsible for the monthly, quarterly and annual financial closing activities and delivering timely accurate financial statements.  Controller develops and maintains process to ensure compliance with Xylem policies and procedures and applicable laws and regulations.  The financial lead must be bilingual (Spanish and English) and have a deep knowledge and understanding of Mexican taxes.

Essential Duties/Principal Responsibilities:

Fiscal closing cycle:

  • Responsible for monthly, quarterly and year-end accounting close activities, processes and preparation of financial statements in accordance with US GAAP, local GAAP and local legal requirements.
  • Prepare account reconciliations, various financial analyses and other internal control related activity to ensure that financial information is accurate and prepared in accordance with GAAP.

Internal Control Environment:

  • Design and maintain effective internal control environment to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in compliance with laws and regulations and safeguards company assets.
  • Responsible for coordinating, planning, providing supports with internal and external auditors.

Cost Accounting:

  • Establish SAP ERP system for new manufacturing facility.  Develop related processes to ensure accurate manufacturing final statements and other financial reporting and analysis to measure financial performance.
  • Led all cost accounting aspects for the cost accounting function – such as standard cost setting process, inventory valuation, purchase price variance analysis, manufacturing variance analysis, etc.

Business Partnering Activities:

  • Provide oversight of facility financial performance to facility leadership team
  • Participate in site leadership and operations meetings to provide to provide key financial insights and recommendations to improve business performance and operational performance.  
  • Provide oversight of financial activities including budge, forecast and cash flow performance.

Develop and maintain accurate processes to capture applicable tax transactions.  Lead filing process for VAT, local, federal and other required tax filings.  Review and approve related balance sheet accounts reconciliations to ensure they are reconciled per requirements (timeliness, frequency, quality) Identify process improvement opportunities to improve and standardize accounting and operational processes.

Additional Responsibilities:

Assist in the development and implementation of new accounting policies and procedures as required. Work within established Company policies and procedures. Responsible for talent development for direct reports

Qualifications: Education, Experience, Skills, Abilities, License/Certification:

  • Bachelors in accounting or finance with 15 + years of business experience.
  • CPA or equivalent required
  • Have a strong knowledge of United States Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP), local GAAP, Mexico legal requirements and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English
  • Deep knowledge and understanding of Mexico tax laws and regulations.
  • Demonstrated skill in written and oral communications and interview skills.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint skills.
  • Highest standards of accuracy and precision; highly organized. Articulate with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated the ability to engage business process owners in a direct yet professional manner, thoroughly evaluate business processes, and quickly identify potential control gaps, and implement solutions successfully.
  • Mix of public accounting and publically traded company experience
  •   Proven analytical ability.
  •   Computer Skills – SAP and One Stream)
