Scope:
- The role requires strong ownership of database reliability, availability, performance, and operational excellence across production and non-production environments.
- The candidate should have deep expertise in database installation, configuration, performance tuning, backup and recovery, replication, high availability, patching, monitoring, troubleshooting, and production support.
What you’ll do:
- Administer, support, and maintain MariaDB database environments across production and non production systems. Perform MariaDB installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, and version management.
- Manage backup, restore, disaster recovery, replication, clustering, and high availability configurations.
- Troubleshoot database performance issues, slow queries, locking, blocking, deadlocks, resource contention, and connectivity issues.
- Perform query tuning, index analysis, schema review, capacity planning, and database health checks.
- Support database migrations, refreshes, data movement, and environment build activities.
- Work closely with application, infrastructure, cloud, and support teams to resolve incidents and drive RCA.
- Monitor database availability, performance, storage, replication lag, and operational alerts.
- Support change management, incident management, problem management, and production release activities.
- Contribute to automation, operational dashboards, standard operating procedures, and reliability improvements.
- Provide Oracle DBA support as a secondary skill, including basic administration, performance troubleshooting, backup/recovery awareness, and production support.
What we are looking for:
- 5 to 10 years of overall database administration experience.
- Strong hands-on experience in MariaDB administration in production environments.
- Good understanding of MySQL/MariaDB architecture, storage engines, indexing, optimizer behavior, replication, backup/recovery, and security.
- Experience with MariaDB replication, Galera Cluster or equivalent HA/DR solutions is preferred.
- Strong SQL tuning and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience with tools such as mariabackup, mysqldump, performance schema, slow query logs, monitoring tools, and Linux commands.
- Working knowledge of Oracle Database administration.
- Strong experience in incident handling, RCA, change execution, and operational support.
- Good scripting knowledge using Shell, Python, or similar automation tools.
