Northrop Grumman Space Systems is looking for a savvy, strategic Communications Director to shape and deliver compelling communications to support our business. Reporting to the sector communications lead, the division communications director is responsible for leading a talented team, and helping shape and lead communications strategy across earned, owned and paid channels and measuring results.

You’ll make a difference by:                                                       

  • Leading a portfolio designed to elevate company thought leadership on important next generation technologies
  • Overseeing the development and execution of an omni-channel, integrated business communications plans to achieve business and communication goals
  • Leading, preparing and positioning subject matter experts for strategic communications opportunities across internal and external channels
  • Partnering with communications colleagues to develop a holistic and integrated communications strategy to achieve business and communications goals 
  • Preparing and sharing metrics on communications efforts and leveraging those results to evolve strategies and approaches to achieve business objectives
  • Partnering with functional colleagues to develop and edit internal and external communications, including announcements, webcasts, videos, speeches, presentations, media engagements and more

Basic qualifications:

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience developing and deploying strategic communications campaigns and measuring business impact 
  • Experience building teams and leading people
  • Bachelor’s degree and minimum of 10 years of communications, public relations, marketing or journalism experience or master’s degree and minimum of 8 years of communications, public relations, marketing or journalism experience.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience working in a large, matrixed and/or geographically dispersed organization 
  • Experience developing productive relationships with executives
  • Experience in technology, aerospace, defense or other science-related business or government fields 
  • Demonstrated judgement in decision making and leadership actions with capabilities to drive change through creative and/or other disruptive methods, ideas & approaches 
  • Understanding of AP Stylebook
  • Experience with measurement tools and analyzing data

Primary Level Salary Range: $155,100.00 - $232,700.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
