PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

Operate manual lathes, mills, CNC multiple Axis Machining Centers and lathes, grinders, saws and all other machine shop equipment. Ability to use feature cam software, write and send program files to machines.

 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Without supervision, follows established company policies and procedures, applies acquired job skills and functional knowledge to perform a broad range of tasks, which include but are not limited to working with engineers, maintenance techs, and supervisors on projects.
  • Read and understand blue prints.
  • Machine close tolerance specifications.
  • Maintain top quality parts.
  • Acts as a subject matter expert for the machine shop.
  • Request for purchasing shop tools and supplies.
  • 100% conformance to all requirements.
  • Works unsupervised on assignments requiring considerable judgement and initiative. Understands implications of work and makes recommendations for solutions.
  • Maintain general housekeeping of working area and plant.
  • Follow all Fresenius Policies.
  • Regular attendance and maintaining a good attendance record is an essential function of the job.
  • Performs functions that require full knowledge of general aspects of the job.
  • Works on assignments covering all ranges of difficulty using judgment in resolving issues and/or in making recommendations.
  • Contacts are frequently with individuals of significant importance within the company, and/or representing outside organizations.  Contacts involve obtaining or providing information/data on matters of importance to the function of the department. Contacts involve planning and preparation of the communications; requires skill, tact, persuasion and/or negotiation to accomplish the objectives of the communications.
  • Determines methods and procedures for shop work.
  • Act as team leader and provides assistance to junior level staff with support tasks, as directed by immediate supervisor.
  • May refer to Management for assistance with higher-level problems that arise.
  • Escalates issues to supervisor for resolution, as deemed necessary.
  • Review and comply with the Code of Business Conduct and all applicable company policies and procedures, local, state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Assist with various projects as assigned by direct supervisor.
  • As a skilled specialist, completes machining tasks in resourceful/effective methods that include, but are not limited to assisting and interfacing with engineers on new projects and/or design improvements to existing equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

EDUCATION:

  • High School Diploma required; Associate's Degree desirable; Bachelor's Degree strongly preferred.

 

EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS:    

  • 4 - 6 years' related experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Design software and Manufacturing software. (Feature Cam software).
  • Completion of a course in machinist skills.
