Department Overview

Safety Process and Risk Research Process Analysts (SPRR PAs) are a global team within the Risk Assessment and Management (RAM) organisation of Pfizer Worldwide Medical and Safety (WMS). We work to provide a variety of safety functions for all Pfizer products on the market and in clinical programs. Pharmacovigilance activities help to monitor the safety profile of all products from clinical development through to post-marketed stages. These activities ensure compliance with regulatory agencies and health authorities in all markets where we hold licences, and ultimately ensure our medicines remain safe and beneficial to patients.

What can I achieve and what will I be accountable for whilst completing a placement at Pfizer?

Within Pfizer’s Worldwide Safety department, you can look forward to working with colleagues across different safety-related functions; developing a comprehension of pharmacovigilance; experiencing how the monitoring of serious adverse drug reactions influences the benefit risk profile of Pfizer products across various therapeutic areas; as well as building critical business skills and being a valued team member.

Working as an Undergraduate Pharmacovigilance Process Analyst, you will work on product-related and non-product projects to support SPRR activities and safety processes, compliance activities and performance metrics.

Your roles and opportunities may include a selection of the following:

  • Attending Risk Management Committee meetings, supporting Process Analysts (PAs) with meeting outcomes and related activities, which may include: documentation of minutes, tracking actions, signal management tasks.
  • Working with Process Analysts (PAs) and Safety Risk Leads (SRLs) to manage/maintain various Pfizer safety systems, including tools used for: tracking and evaluation of safety signals; monitoring of targeted medical events; monitoring ongoing safety data/topics; visualising and presenting safety data from ongoing clinical trials.
  • Freely seeking out resources and training modules on topics related to safety processes and Pfizer digital tools, training/advising team members, and working to incorporate learnings into team activities.
  • Leading and participating in ad-hoc projects to support and provide continuous improvement initiatives within the team.
  • Supporting a range of safety processes, which may include meeting facilitation, preparing and visualising data, updating and conveying safety information/documentation.
  • Supporting the safety monitoring activities of marketed products and those under clinical development.
  • Collaborating with global colleagues and building professional relationships using Pfizer’s digital tools.

Skills you will develop may include the following:

  • Communication skills through liaising with colleagues.
  • Presentation skills when presenting work at meetings.
  • Organisational/prioritisation skills when working on a variety of projects/tasks.
  • Teamwork through partnership and networking with various groups and colleagues.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office 365 applications and other safety systems.

When can I start?

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Type of person we are looking for, in relation to ‘Skills’, ‘Knowledge’ and ‘Motivation’:

  • Completing placement as part of University Degree either through Year In Industry/Industrial Placement or Gap Year
  • On target for a Degree Classification in a Science or Medical discipline.
  • Detail oriented, excellent organisation skills, self-directed, work to established timelines and ensure timelines are met
  • Proficient in office computer applications, including: MS Office applications, document management systems
  • Effective communication skills, verbal and written
  • Motivated to take on and be involved in a variety of activities and tasks
  • Drive to direct and take part in combined working relationships within own team and across functions and global locations
  • Must have the relevant authorisation to live and work in the UK
