About You and This Role

Dow has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Process Control Technician in St. Charles, LA. You will support activities relating to the support of process automation systems. You will provide preventative maintenance and 7x24 troubleshooting support for installed base systems. You will minimize plant downtime caused by process automation system failures, while providing services that are cost effective and sustainable. You have an overall knowledge of all current hardware, operating system software, networking systems and system software. You will require advanced skills and expertise in a range of processes, procedures, and systems, and/or specialized technical expertise within an analytical/scientific method or operational process to perform a broad range of complex work assignments. You may act as a working team lead, providing subject matter guidance and coordinating work of others. 

Responsibilities

  • Provide support and troubleshooting of multiple process automation systems throughout the site and their associated networks and interfaces
  • Perform predictive and preventative maintenance (PPM) and health checks on systems
  • Participate in software and hardware upgrades
  • Complete small project work including system installation, configuration, design and development
  • Track and redeploy assets
  • Provide training and knowledge transfer to plant system focal points, as well as other site support resources
  • Interface with others in the Plant who support process control on troubleshooting and upgrades
  • Participate in risk assessment when activities to the system are required

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of an associate’s degree in Electronics, Instrumentation, IT, Computer, Networking or Process Technician field or 3 years military equivalent experience and 2 years of relevant experience. In lieu of a degree, 5 years of relevant experience
  • Proficient in Windows Server Systems and Microsoft applications, such as Word and Excel, and have the ability to learn new systems quickly
  • Willing and able to work all applicable shifts on a rotating basis (including weekends) and work overtime when needed
  • Must be willing to be on-call and come in on off-shift hours to perform work
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English
  • Must have a current, valid US driver’s license
  • Must be 18 years old or older

  • Lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • This role does involve elevated work greater than or equal to four feet above the ground
  • Work near low voltage equipment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in process control, manufacturing or other related experience preferred
  • Experience with ABB800xA systems or PLC systems preferred
  • Individual of high initiative, who can organize, prioritize, and accomplish multiple tasks during the workday
  • Demonstrate personal accountability and leadership to ensure a safe work environment by complying with health, safety, and environmental standards.  Must also hold others accountable for doing so
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Have a desire to learn and grow technical skills to keep current with new automation and process Technology
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Strong multi-tasking, problem solving and time management skills
  • Demonstrate leadership skills - inspire others and lead them through influence
