We are looking for a highly motivated student or recent graduate to join our team!

Our Intern Program is designed to support the development of students and recent graduates for future positions by offering one-on-one mentoring, peer and experiential learning, internal training programs, and much more. We are currently accepting applications for undergraduate and master’s level students or recent graduates seeking the opportunity to work in the investment management space.  

The Legal Entity Management (“LEM”) group provides enterprise-wide governance, oversight, and monitoring of IMCO’s legal entities holding investments across public and private asset classes.  The group is also responsible for product control, ensuring a robust financial architecture and control framework is in place when new investment products are onboarded.

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Intern to join our team. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in governance and oversight of legal entities within a global investment management context. You will work closely with senior professionals across multiple functions, supporting the establishment and maintenance of the LEM framework for IMCO Pools, subsidiaries, and client entities.

Responsibilities Include:  

  • Assist in the creation, maintenance, and dissolution of legal entities;

  • Conduct operational research to support governance and oversight of legal entities in Canada and in foreign jurisdictions;

  • Support development and monitoring of requirements across four key pillars: Regulatory & Compliance, Operational, Financial, and Board & Administrative Obligations;

  • Help maintain accurate documentation, including legal entity registers, ownership structures, and minute books;

  • Collaborate with internal and external partners across Legal, Finance, Deal Teams, Tax, Investment Operations, and Treasury to ensure obligations are met;

  • Assist with the design and enhancement of information management systems, including document libraries, databases and network mappings;

  • Monitor and report on business activities, keeping stakeholders informed of key developments;

  • Participate in project work and contribute to process improvements as opportunities arise.

What You Need to Succeed:

  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree with course work in Business, Finance or Law.

  • Strong interest in investment management, business structures, and governance across public and private asset classes.

  • Motivated, curious, and innovative mindset, with a passion for learning and problem-solving.

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively in a team environment.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Power BI, Power Automate).

  • Knowledge of investments, financial management, and accounting is an asset.

  • Enrollment in or completion of CFA Level I or other finance designation is an asset.

  • Understanding of information management (experience writing queries, exposure to AI tools for research and analysis, Power BI, Python is an asset).

The base salary range for this position is CAD $45,000 to $65,000. The placement within the range is determined by the role and assessment of the candidate’s year of study and relevant work experience.
