Role title:  Registered Nurse (Year 2 - 8)

Role type:  Permanent full time

Department and location:  Alcohol and Drug Service, St Vincent’s Hospital, Darlinghurst

Salary:  $78,346.12 - $104,336.27 + super

About the role

  • Conduct comprehensive intake assessments for clients presenting with alcohol and other drug concerns, ensuring appropriate triage and referral to inpatient, outpatient, and external treatment services.

  • Serve as the first point of contact for clients, families, carers, and referring agencies, providing compassionate support, advocacy, and information to facilitate informed treatment decisions.

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including ADS Registrars and Staff Specialists, to manage complex presentations and ensure safe, timely, and appropriate care pathways.

  • Collect, maintain, and disseminate accurate client and service information while contributing to the efficient flow of referrals and continuity of care across the Alcohol and Drug Service.

  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical supervision, professional development, and team meetings to enhance service access, maintain current knowledge of alcohol and other drug interventions, and support continuous workforce development.

About you

  • Currently registered as a Registered Nurse (Division 1) with the Australian Health Professionals Regulation Agency.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of drug and alcohol health issues in a primary health care, community and/or inpatient setting

  • Demonstrated effective time management skills and ability to prioritise competing workloads within a complex environment

  • Ability to work within the interdisciplinary team and demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills

  • Demonstrated evidence of integration of theoretical knowledge and clinical skills, critical thinking and analysis in your daily practice
