We are looking for a highly technical, hands-on Senior Engineering Manager to join as a founding member of our new engineering department. In this role, you will focus on designing and building a custom software platform from the ground up while driving an AI-native development culture. You will partner closely with the Director of Engineering and product leadership to deliver high-quality, scalable solutions that support our recreational vehicle business. This is a hands-on role where you will spend significant time on architecture, coding, and technical execution while helping shape early engineering practices.

What You'll Do

Technical Leadership & Architecture

  • Collaborate with the Director of Engineering to design and implement a scalable, maintainable web application architecture from scratch.
  • Make key technical decisions on technology stack, frameworks, databases and system design.
  • Lead the development of core platform components with a strong focus on quality, performance, and long-term scalability.
  • Establish foundational coding standards, documentation practices, and deployment processes.

Hands-On Delivery

  • Actively write, review, and refactor code while driving feature development and platform delivery.
  • Integrate advanced AI-agentic workflows to accelerate development velocity.
  • Translate product requirements into clear technical specifications and execute on them efficiently.
  • Balance rapid delivery with sustainable engineering practices and minimal technical debt.

Team & Project Execution

  • Contribute to early team processes and ceremonies tailored for a small, remote-first environment.
  • Work closely with product and stakeholders to deliver value iteratively.
  • Identify and mitigate technical risks throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Jump in wherever needed from high-level architecture to hands-on implementation and troubleshooting.

What You Bring

Technical Expertise

  • 10+ years of software engineering experience with 5+ years in a technical leadership or engineering management role.
  • Strong, current full-stack development skills with the ability to design and implement complex systems hands-on.
  • Practical experience integrating AI coding tools and agentic workflows to significantly improve development speed and quality.
  • Solid understanding of modern web architectures, cloud platforms, CI/CD pipelines, and scalable system design.

Leadership & Mindset

  • Proven ability to own architecture and technical direction while delivering production-grade software.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and comfort working in ambiguous, fast-paced environments.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proactive, self-sufficient leader who thrives in a small-team setting and enjoys hands-on work.

Bonus Points For

  • Experience building software platforms from scratch or as an early engineer.
  • Background in the recreational vehicle (RV), manufacturing, or related industries.
  • Knowledge of modern cloud infrastructure, security, and observability practices.

What We Offer

  • Opportunity to be a founding member of a new engineering department and play a key role in building a custom software platform from the ground up
  • High-impact, hands-on technical leadership position with significant ownership over architecture and platform direction
  • The chance to help shape an AI-native engineering culture and modern development practices in a growing organization
  • Collaborative, startup-like environment with the stability and resources of an established RV industry leader
  • Competitive compensation and benefits package
  • Flexible work arrangements with remote-first team setup
