Principal Designer: Job Description
We are seeking a Principal Designer [IC Position]- (Director level Equivalent) to be a key leader in the AI App Development Platform UX design team.
In this role, you will lead strategic UX design for the next-gen AI App development platform experiences. You are expected to design scalable systems and platform capabilities that will enable Salesforce customers to build and launch AI-powered, intelligent, smart and highly personalized apps for their customers and users.
You will establish the UX vision for a long-term product development program. You will institutionalize UX paradigms, patterns and frameworks for various design teams and designers, and guide the team toward its implementation.
You will report to the Head of Platform UX Design in India, and join an organization consisting of multiple design teams across India and the US.
Strategic Leadership:
Apply advanced systems thinking to comprehend and navigate the complex relationships between Salesforce platform components, products, and ecosystem.
Develop and champion a compelling long-term strategic vision for UX design that aligns with Salesforce's overall business goals and technological roadmap.
Craft and deliver persuasive, data-driven presentations with clear narratives and inclusive resources to influence decision-makers at all levels of the organization.
Build and maintain trust with internal and external stakeholders and partners through deep understanding of project complexities, business objectives, and technological constraints.
Cultivate strong relationships across the ecosystem, from engineering and product teams to customers and third-party developers, ensuring alignment and collaboration throughout the product development lifecycle.
Design Excellence:
Continuously scout for opportunities to enhance user experiences by leveraging advanced data analytics, user research, and design heuristics.
Critically evaluate and optimize existing design processes to increase efficiency, quality, and cross-functional alignment.
Proactively coordinates brainstorming and ideation sessions, employing innovative techniques to maximize creative output and project value in limited time.
Challenge status quo thinking and push the boundaries of design solutions, consistently raising the bar for creative work across the organization.
Articulate and defend design decisions based on a comprehensive understanding of creative merit, including design principles, users voice, and quality of novel ideas.
Establish and maintain design standards that ensure consistency and excellence across all platform touchpoints
Team and Culture Building:
Demonstrate exceptional leadership through initiative and confidence, inspiring respect and fostering a culture of innovation among team members
Effectively manage conflict and navigate complex communication challenges leveraging deep interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence beyond the professional channels.
Spearhead team, organization, or company-wide cultural initiatives that promote inclusivity, creativity, and continuous learning.
Establish knowledge-sharing platforms and practices to disseminate team insights and promote group successes across the organization.
Collaborate closely with the recruiting team to attract, hire, and successfully onboard world-class, diverse design talent.
12+ years of product design experience designing complex or enterprise-level software
Experience in end-to-end UX/product design to design impactful solutions to challenging problems
Passion for managing and mentoring designers
Excellent Storytelling skills, ability to bring design direction to life with compelling narrative
Experience balancing customer needs with business goals, market viability, and technical feasibility
Self-motivated, and a good communicator. Lead facilitation and cross-functional collaboration skills: you can demonstrate the ability to integrate the work of multiple teams, solicit and synthesize feedback, and facilitate design discussions
Experience measuring success with qualitative and quantitative methods
BA/BS or MA/MS in design related field, or equivalent experience
