Boeing Korea Engineering and Technology Center (BKETC) is seeking a high potential Associate/Experience Embedded Software Engineers (Virtualization) to join our Software Engineering team in Seoul, Korea, Republic of. This work includes developing emulations of key embedded systems for use on multiple platforms for Boeing commercial and defense products.  Specifically, this role will be an individual who will contribute to activities related to the development and integration of test environments, virtual machines, models and simulations in the creation of high-fidelity digital twins.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Be able to work independently or as part as a team

  • Design, implement, and maintain QEMU-based device and platform models; integrate and validate software components (firmware, drivers, and applications) to provide accurate and performant system-level emulation, including automated tests and CI pipeline support.

  • Assists with test procedures and documenting test results to ensure software system requirements are met

  • Supports software project management and software supplier management functions

  • Selects, tailors and deploys processes and tools; establishes metrics

  • Performs software research and trade studies

  • Troubleshoots software issues

  • Works under general supervision
     

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, or etc

  • Minimum 3 to 8 years’ experience with the embedded system software development

  • Experience with ARM, PowerPC, or x86 microprocessor architectures

  • Experience in Windows, Linux and real-time operating systems

  • Experience programming with C/C++

  • Experience working in an Agile software development environment

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and Korean

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Strong passion for developing high-quality product

  • Highly motivated "roll up your sleeves" attitude with a strong drive for success and teamwork

Preferred Qualifications: (nice to have 1+ items of below):

  • Experience with Computer Architecture fundamentals, including microprocessor, instruction set, memory hierarchy, memory mapped I/O, interrupts

  • Hands on experience in Virtualization technologies, e.g. KVM, QEMU

  • Understanding of Unix System programming concepts

  • Socket, Pipes, Shared memory, Process, Threads

  • Experience with development or debugging of bootloaders

  • Experience with networking protocols

  • Experience with embedded system peripherals and protocols such as i2c, SPI, RS-232, SATA, IDE, PCI, Flash Memory

  • Experience with MIL-STD-1553, ARINC 429, ARINC 664

  • Experience with scripting languages, e.g. Python, Bash

  • Experience in Git and with software development in Visual Studio Code

  • Understanding of docker containers and DevSecOps techniques
