We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Program Manager of Data Governance Operations to join our team. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving the maturity of the enterprise data governance program, with a primary focus on metadata management. This role will involve planning and reporting on metadata initiatives, including timelines, roadmaps, and progress tracking. Additionally, the Manager will work closely with community managers to support stewardship efforts and ensure continued engagement across domains. Strong communication skills are essential, as this role will lead governance forums and foster collaboration across stakeholders to advance data governance initiatives.
 

Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the maturity of the enterprise data governance program across all the disciplines.
  • Oversee the metadata curation process, ensuring alignment with enterprise standards and promoting consistent, high-quality metadata across domains.
  • Lead the development and execution of metadata management strategies, including curation, reporting, and compliance with metadata policies.
  • Own the timeline and roadmap for metadata management efforts, including setting targets, tracking progress, and ensuring initiatives are followed through to completion.
  • Collaborate with data stewards, owners, and community managers to ensure metadata completeness, accuracy, and usability for all data assets.
  • Support Sr Analysts on the team in their stewardship efforts by providing guidance, expertise, and strategic direction to mature the data domains.
  • Facilitate and lead business units data governance forums, representing the team as a spokesperson and ensuring effective communication and alignment across stakeholders.
  • Act as a liaison between the Enterprise Data Governance team and domain-specific governance teams, fostering collaboration and best practices.
  • Promote innovation and continuous improvement within data governance processes, ensuring they meet organizational needs and scale effectively.
  • Own the overall data stewardship program by contributing to the development of frameworks, policies, and standards to enhance data management maturity.
     

Required qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in data governance, data management, or a related field with strong understanding of data governance principles, best practices, and industry standards, with a particular emphasis on metadata management.
  • A minimum of 1-year hands on experience working with data catalogs and metadata management processes, including curation, reporting, and compliance with standards.  
     

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in data stewardship, either through serving as a data steward, contributing to a stewardship community, or establishing stewardship programs as part of a governance team.
  • Excellent project management skills, with a proven track record of successfully managing complex data governance projects.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with experience presenting to and engaging with diverse audiences, including senior stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$92,700.00 - $203,940.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.  The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.  This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
