Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

Meets all qualifications/requirements for Truss Builder 1 and can demonstrate proficiency of Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities of that role. Ground Position Truss Table

Identifies different components of truss (Cords, Webs, Plates etc.)

Understands placement of webs and plates on table

Safely loads and uses a staple gun

Safely operates an air chisel and chop saw 

Knows how to mark and cut angles/bevels on the chop saw 

Makes basic repairs to damaged trusses

Cleanups as required for area

Floor Truss Builder

Reads and understand floor truss build paperwork

Identifies floor truss components (Plate, BL1 etc.) 

Knows how to build BL1 (End block) 

Understands how to safely operate the floor press and table

Understands how to safely operate the Spida Cord Splicer

Understands how to set up and build a Rim Truss.

Cleanups as required for area

Truss Component Sawyer II – Monet Auto Saw

Reads and understands plans on computer screen

Identifies different components of truss (Cords, webs, plates, etc.) 

Able to identify materials by species, size and MSR rating. Finds and identifies material stamps and verifies correct use per cut sheets.

Able to operate in auto and manual modes.

Understands how to load jobs into the saws operating system

Knows how to calibrate the saw per manufacturer recommendations

Understands the three separate positions of the Picker, Operator and Catcher.

Understands all safety measures and guards in place and how they work

Cleans saw as per manufacturer recommendations

Cleanups as required for area

Truss Component Sawyer II - Hundegger Component Saw

Understands cut sheets

Identifies different grades and species of lumber 

Understands how to start up and shut down Hundegger Component Saw operating system

Understands how to load jobs to be cut on the Hundegger Component Saw operating system

Cleans saw as per manufacturer recommendations

Cleanup as required for area

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

• Can accurately read and understand a tape measure down to a 16th of an inch
• Basic Computer Skills
• Knowledge of common building materials used in residential, multi-family and commercial construction
• Knowledge of component manufacturing process used in residential, multi-family and commercial construction
• Attention to detail, takes pride in quality of work
• Efficient and able to complete assignments within a given deadline
• Strong teamwork ethic
• Communicates effectively with team members
• Must have qualified as a Truss Builder 1

Pay Range: $23.09 - $23.11 per hour
