MediCard is currently looking for assertive, dynamic and energetic individuals to fill up the following vacancy:

The Medical Technologist is responsible for performing a variety of laboratory tests and procedures to assist in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. This role involves analyzing body fluids, tissues, and other substances to provide critical data for patient care. The Medical Technologist must ensure the accuracy and reliability of test results while adhering to strict quality control and safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

 Perform Laboratory Tests:
  Conduct complex chemical, biological, hematological, immunologic, and bacteriological tests on patient samples.
  Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring it is calibrated and functioning properly.
  Accurately record and analyze test results, and report findings to physicians or relevant healthcare providers.

 Quality Control and Assurance:
  Implement and monitor quality control procedures to ensure the precision and accuracy of test results.
  Participate in proficiency testing and ensure compliance with regulatory standards (e.g., CLIA, CAP, Joint Commission).
  Identify and troubleshoot any issues with testing procedures or equipment.

 Sample Collection and Handling:
  Properly collect, label, and process patient specimens, ensuring the integrity of samples.
  Store and dispose of biohazardous materials according to safety guidelines.

 Data Management:
  Enter and manage test data in the laboratory information system (LIS).
  Maintain accurate and detailed records of test procedures, results, and quality control activities.

 Collaboration and Communication:
  Work closely with laboratory staff, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure efficient workflow and accurate test interpretation.
  Communicate any urgent or critical results to the appropriate clinical personnel in a timely manner.

 Continuous Improvement:
  Stay uptodate with advancements in medical technology, laboratory practices, and regulatory changes.
  Participate in continuing education and professional development opportunities.
  Assist in the development and implementation of new testing procedures or protocols.

 Qualifications:
 Education: Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field from an accredited institution.
 Certification: Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) or Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) by a recognized certifying agency (e.g., ASCP, AMT) is required.
 Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in a clinical laboratory setting preferred.

  Strong attention to detail and ability to perform repetitive tasks accurately.
  Excellent problemsolving and analytical skills.
  Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
  Knowledge of laboratory safety and infection control procedures.
