About The Position

The Technical Assistant is an entry-level IT support role responsible for delivering day-to-day technical assistance to staff across Art and Wellness Enterprises (AWE) and its supported organizations. This position requires a wide range of IT functions, including device setup, routine troubleshooting, equipment maintenance, and user support for hardware, software, networks, and audio/visual systems. The Technical Assistant plays a critical role in maintaining smooth IT operations by resolving technical issues promptly, managing IT inventory, and collaborating with internal teams to enhance service delivery.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide end-user support for computer, audio/visual, network, printing, and other technology-related issues, both remotely and onsite.
  • Assist with setting up and troubleshooting conferencing equipment and software.
  • Move and arrange equipment on desks as needed.
  • Install and support printers.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and networking issues.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to manage daily workload and special projects.
  • Maintain internal service management solutions, including asset management and knowledge base updates.
  • Assist with configuring and installing new devices and managing inventory.
  • Communicate the status of technology requests via various channels.
  • Plan and conduct staff development related to hardware and software.
  • Suggest process improvements and streamline services.
  • Perform routine maintenance checks and update software and firmware.
  • Identify and replace faulty or outdated equipment.
  • Maintain an inventory of technology equipment and ensure sufficient supplies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Enthusiastic about contributing to the success of a major community center.
  • Strong technical troubleshooting and creative problem-solving abilities with a focus on rapid resolution.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and clients.
  • Proficiency in operating systems, computer hardware, software applications, audio-visual equipment, and network troubleshooting.
  • Strong organizational, multitasking, and critical thinking skills to prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Dedicated to providing proactive, courteous, and solution-focused customer service.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and general computer literacy.
  • Committed to continuous learning, including the use of specialized software and professional development.
  • Proficient in using a variety of hand and power tools.
  • Able to work independently while being adaptable and collaborative across diverse teams and roles.
  • Maintains high standards of confidentiality and ethics in all business practices.

Physical Demands: In the work environment described, position requires sustained use of a computer and telephone for prolonged periods of time and good eye/hand coordination, bending and stretching, and physical stamina to lift and transport a minimum of 30 pounds. Vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. This role regularly involves standing, walking, using hands and fingers to handle or operate tools, controls, and equipment, reaching with hands and arms, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and communicating clearly with others. Duties may involve navigating tight or elevated spaces and occasionally working at heights.

Work Environment: Work is performed full-time (Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.) in a professional, climate-controlled office environment with standard office equipment, including computers, printers, and telephones as well as occasionally in outdoor environments, including exposure to varying weather conditions. This role requires working in an open setting near colleagues. The noise level is typically low to moderate. The role also requires regular interaction with both the public and internal team members in a professional and courteous manner.  A flexible schedule may be necessary to accommodate business needs, including occasional evening and weekend work hours.
