What You Will Do:
Pratt & Whitney’s HMI site is a dynamic production manufacturing site focused on nickel superalloy powdered metal atomization, screening, and billet processing for turbine engine rotor products, as well as thermal plasma spray and additive powders. The Pratt & Whitney HMI Clayville, NY site is looking for a Quality Senior Manager to lead a team of hourly and salary team members. This position will be responsible for the strategic leadership and direction within the site.
As a member of the senior leadership team, the Quality Senior Manager will be responsible for driving the highest quality standards across all production processes, implementing strategic planning, guiding continuous improvement initiatives, and ensuring compliance with company, customer, and regulatory requirements. The Quality Senior Manager will lead and manage the HMI quality team, providing guidance, mentorship, and development opportunities to achieve organizational goals.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address quality issues to ensure quality standards are integrated into all processes and products; develop and deliver training programs to enhance the quality skills and knowledge of employees across the organization.
Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including executive leadership, to provide updates on issues and improvement initiatives.
Ensure timely resolution of quality-related issues through innovative problem-solving and effective action planning; support internal and external audits, address findings, and ensure corrective actions are effectively implemented.
Foster a culture of quality and continuous improvement within the team and across the organization; monitor and analyze quality performance metrics, identify trends, root causes of defects, areas of improvement, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
Utilize local and enterprise database systems to track and report quality metrics.
Develop and execute quality assurance strategies to improve product quality, reduce defects, and enhance customer satisfaction.
Establish baseline factory metrics (Scrap, Rework, FPY, etc.), identify key performance drivers, forecast demand trends, and pinpoint improvement opportunities.
Lead Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) activities—including PFMEA, Control Plans, and SPC—aligned with baseline performance data and projected demand.
Maintain site Quality Management System (QMS) documentation and AS9100 certification status through a robust audit program and management review practices.
Qualifications You Must Have:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Technology, Engineering, Mathematics or related discipline and 10 years or more years of experience in an engineering, quality, manufacturing operations, or related environment OR a Master's degree and 7 or more years of experience
Experience identifying root cause and initiating / implementing effective short-term and long-term corrective actions.
Experience managing a team of technical staff, and experience working in a cross-functional team environment.
Experience making decisions with minimal supervision, goal setting, delegation, coaching, and motivating, communication skills that exhibit presence and influence; experience building and maintaining relationships with customers or partners (both internal and external).
GD&T Knowledge, understanding, and practical application.
Knowledge and skill of Root Cause Corrective Action processes.
Understanding of continuous improvement tools such as Six Sigma and Lean
Qualifications We Prefer:
Experience with commercial and/or aerospace / defense regulations and/or standards of a commercial equivalent with any of the following: - AS9100, AS9102, ISO-9000, ISO-9001, AS9145.
Certification in Six Sigma, CORE, and/or American Society for Quality (ASQ)
Knowledge of industry technical standards (such as ANSI, CMMI, ASTM, J-STD etc.)
Familiar with the ultrasonic, etch, mechanical properties and NDT operations.
Knowledge of General Statistical Process Control

The salary range for this role is 132,400 USD - 251,600 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
