Hourly Pay Range:

$53.48 - $82.89 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.

Position Highlights:

  • Position: Medical Dosimetrist - Radiation
  • Location: Swedish Hospital - Chicago, IL
  • Full Time | 40 hours/week
  • Hours: Monday-Friday, 7:30am - 4pm, no weekends/holidays
  • Required Travel: May also work out of Evanston, Glenbrook, and Highland Park locations

What you will do:

  • Demonstrates a commitment to the mission of Swedish Covenant Hospital and demonstrates a service orientation and adheres to all responsibilities and standards of the Hospital
  • Plans a treatment technique using computer and/or manual calculations that will deliver a prescribed radiation dose to a defined tumor volume as prescribed by the Radiation Oncologist.
  • Plans for both external beam and brachytherapy cases to localize tumor volume via radiographic films and C.T. based, 3-dimensional treatment plans.
  • Performs treatment calculations to deliver the proper dose of radiation determined by the Radiation Oncologist, and verified the mathematical accuracy of the calculations.
  • Prepares treatment devices such as custom blocks, tissue compensators and custom bolus as prescribed by the Radiation Oncologist.
  • Prepares immobilization devices such as aquaplast casts and alph cradle/vac fix body moulds.
  • Utilizes the charge codes accurately and appropriately by following departmental guidelines.
  • Attends weekly and monthly quality assurance meetings including but not limited to 3D CRT Peer Review, Chart Rounds and QA Committee Meetings.
  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skill necessary to assess, treat and care for adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.  Involves family/guardian in the plan of care and conducts patient and family education, as appropriate, considering the developmental needs of the patient.

What you will need:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Physics or Radiation Therapy Technology, required
  • Certification: Certified or eligible for certification by the American Assn. of Medical Dosimetrists, required.
  • Experience: Minimum of one year experience as a Medical Dosimetrist, required.
