Job Description Summary:

Tenure track appointments are full-time with an initial probationary period of seven years. Criteria for promotion includes significant achievements in teaching, research/scholarship, and service. The award of tenure is based on potential for sustained contributions, performing beyond expected duties, and demonstrating leadership and innovation in activities that enhance the reputation of the University.
The Clinical Scholar Track is for full-time faculty members who are heavily involved in clinical service, education, and related scholarship. This track has two career paths: Clinician-Educator concentrating on teaching and Clinician-Investigator for concentrating on research/scholarship. Significant contributions in professional and academic service are required for both paths.

Job Description:

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Part-time clinical practice in the Orthopedic Surgery sub-specialty area of Sports Medicine.

  • Team Physician, both clinically and administratively, as assigned by the Chair.

  • Participation in the advancement and education of medical students, orthopedic surgery residents, and fellows.  Specifically, in Sports Medicine patient care management and academic research

  • Active participant in the Sports Medicine Orthopedic sub-division.

  • Participation in orthopedic departmental and faculty meetings or other assigned committees or initiatives as assigned by the Chair, important to either Orthopedic Surgery, the service line, or sub-specialty area of training.

Required Qualifications:

Education:

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible MD or DO from an accredited University.

  • Orthopedic Surgery Residency completion from an ACGME accredited training program.

  • Fellowship training in the sub-specialty area of Sports Medicine.

  • Certificate of Added Qualification (CAQ) in Sports Medicine

Work Experience:

  • Practice experience in the sub-specialty of Orthopedic Surgery - Sports Medicine

  • Academic and research-related interests or experience related to Sports Medicine

  • Experience with management of sports related injuries, surgical intervention, and return to play for collegiate or professional sports athletes.

Preferred Qualifications:

Work Experience:

  • Greater than ten year's practice experience in Sports Medicine.

  • Experience as a Team Physician with a National professional Sports team.

  • Academic and research initiatives in outcomes-based protocols.
