SENIOR MANUFACTURING ENGINEER

KANCHIPURAM, TAMILNADU

WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH

You will be a key member of the Global Footwear Manufacturing & Engineering team, reporting directly to the Director, Footwear Manufacturing Engineering. You will be working closely with cross functional teams across the enterprise namely Consumer Creation, Nike Explore Team (NXT), Sourcing, Chemical Engineering, Modernization, Manufacturing Systems Engineering and our Manufacturing Partners. Your role will involve supporting and developing new manufacturing capabilities, engineering and delivering high-quality products, leading functional initiatives, enhancing Quality Management Systems, and fostering the development of critical skills within the team.

As a Senior Manufacturing Engineer, who needs to be curious, strong technical expertise on product engineering and manufacturing, have a tolerance for ambiguity. You should have the ability to work both collaboratively and independently, leveraging data analysis to drive decision making. Success in this role requires a commitment to continuous improvement and adaptability to meet the evolving needs of our consumers and business.

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in Footwear Product Engineering, Commercialization and Manufacturing.

  • Bachelor’s degree or a comparable combination of education or footwear school training and experience is required.

  • A commitment to collaborating within diverse teams that encompass various cultural backgrounds to achieve shared objectives is important.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a dynamic environment.

  • Able to collaborate effectively with both functional and global teams to achieve desired outcomes is crucial.

  • Understanding on Quality Management principles and the application of analytical skills to facilitate data-driven decision-making is expected.

  • Project management and influencing skills are expected to drive goals and initiatives successfully.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in both verbal and written communication, including presentations, is necessary.

WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON

The role entails leading product engineering, manufacturing optimization, and quality assurance while driving innovation, standardization, and collaboration across teams to ensure high quality footwear production aligned with Nike’s standards. 

  • You will drive the commercialization, product engineering activities to deliver the best products to the consumers.

  • You are accountable for ensuring factory progress against Nike strategic goals and adherence to Nike’s manufacturing and quality standards.

  • You will provide footwear expertise to scale new capabilities and innovations at the factory level.

  • As part of the role, you will drive manufacturability validation of NXT technology and confirm manufacturing readiness.

  • You will partner with Manufacturing & Engineering leadership and factory teams to support correct application of standardized best practices at factory workshop floor.

  • Your role will develop future-ready skills and competencies on the Nike Footwear and Partner Manufacturing teams.

  • You will ensure standardized and consistent metrics at factory sites, review data, identify opportunities and validate partner plans and solutions to deliver improvements.

  • Your collaboration with Consumer Creation, Manufacturing Partners and Manufacturing Systems Engineering teams to drive effective activation of advanced manufacturing capabilities. 

  • You will assure Nike standards are met throughout commercialization and provide inputs to resolve issues.

  • Additionally, you will partner with Manufacturing System Engineering and factory teams to scale foundational elements of Quality Management System (QMS), use real time data to validate effectiveness of factory QMS, identify and close gaps in factory QMS.

  • Lastly, you will assess and support new facility ramp up, optimization and engineering readiness.
