About You and this Role
Dow has an exciting job opportunity as a Scheduler in Orange, Texas within Sabine River Operations (SRO) supporting the East Texas Hub.
The successful candidate will be responsible to use job plans and create a daily and weekly schedule that make the most effective and efficient use of the available resources. The Scheduler will support the High-Pressure Copolymer (HPC) units.
Responsibilities
- Builds the weekly schedule using Primavera
- Receives work order into the schedule and reviews for completeness Sets net capacity for the crafts based on information about the area schedule and the related available labor
- Maintains mindset of the scheduler controls the resources and monitors for above 90% schedule resource utilization.
- Assists in the update of the jobs to be included in the weekly schedule
- Identify resource requirements for the scheduled jobs using the job plans
- Identifies resource leveling and leveraging opportunities across Zone 1
- Communicates with operations and maintenance on scheduling status
- Leads Zone or Plant Scheduling meetings
- Leads Zone or Plant SAP backlog review discussions with Operations, Work Area Coordinators (WACs) and Planners
- Monitors/reviews performance measures
- Site network aligned measures
- Zone aligned measures
- Leads Scheduling improvement efforts
- Mentor for WACs, Planners, or other roles within the workgroup for scheduling best practices
- Maintain zero overdue Predictive Preventative Maintenance (PPM)s working with PPMC
- Backup for other delegated zone schedulers as needed
- Promotes discipline knowledge exchange and quality application through technical coaching.
- Develops schedule management plans for project and/or turnarounds.
- Performs staffing checks or staffing limitation checks to validate schedule durations and ensures resource-leveling supports the project strategy.
- Leads teams in forecasting schedule challenges and offers analyses and solutions to complete the project on schedule.
- Utilizes cost estimates to resource load project schedules to gain alignment with estimated scope. Works with leadership to gain alignment when forecasting schedule completion dates.
- Evaluates deviations to assess schedule impact for proper decision making and recovery plans.
- Contributes to improvement of Schedule Work Process and leveraging of learning experiences. Makes recommendations on cycle time reduction opportunities and techniques, as applied to scheduling.
- Acts as a technical resource for Scheduling within the work process.
- Supports establishment of overall schedule baseline and reporting to monitor and control the metrics within established baseline tolerances.
- Coordinates data inputs from the various disciplines and functions to ensure accurate forecasts and reporting of schedule.
- Engages key stakeholders to understand causes of the deviation and the need to establish actions to mitigate, when deviations occur.
- Requires full proficiency in a range of technical, operational, or analytical/scientific processes and procedures through job-related training and considerable on the job experience to perform a variety of work assignments.
- Acts as an informal resource for team members with less experience
Requirements
- A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED is required.
- 4 or more years of relevant experience or in maintenance work processes.
- Previous experience in SAP.
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications, such as Word and Excel, and can learn new systems quickly.
- A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
Preferred Skills
- Craft or vocational certification a plus.
- Previous scheduling experience a plus
- Primavera experience is preferred.
