Job Description:

Hydraulic Excavator Manufacturing Engineering (HEME) Heavy Fabrication team is leading worldwide common process for Hydraulic Excavator (HEX) in both Caterpillar facilities and outside suppliers who produce HEX Heavy Fabrication parts.  HEME Heavy Fab team deals with planning, implementation, and management of common processes and quality control management for not only new products but also existing products on large fabricated structures and enclosure parts of Track HEX and Wheeled HEX.  Also, quick and efficient countermeasure management is required against CPI issues occurred in worldwide regions.

HEME Heavy Fabrication team has the opening position for Manufacturing Project Engineer. In this role, you will be in charge of Common Process/Tooling Implementation for Boom and Stick.

This position will be responsible for :

  • Lead Common Process / Tooling Implementation Activities for Boom and Stick
  • Lead APQP workshops and approve PPAP
  • Lead collection of Voice Of Manufacturing (VOM)
  • Communicate with design teams for NPI, CIP and VOMs
  • Support EXD Synergy Fabrication Team
  • Support improvement activities for welding quality and efficiency
  • Support CPI countermeasure activities for heavy and light fabrication parts
  • Support deep dive process observation audits planning and execution
  • Support Weld CAV audit

Requirements

  • More than 5 years of experience in the field of Welding and Fabrication (all the better if having HEX fabrication experiences)
  • Deep knowledge of welding technology (mainly GMAW) and machining technology
  • Skills to learn and utilize Caterpillar manufacturing standards for improving manufacturing process and quality.
  • Skills of communication in Japanese and English
  • Available for domestic and international business trips (covering facilities and local suppliers in NA, SA, EUR, India, China and Japan.)

Travel frequency will be at least once a month for discussion and workshop. Duration will be 1-2 weeks/trip.
