Overview:
A Healthcare Originator – Managing Director is responsible for identifying, structuring and closing healthcare lending transactions. You will work closely with clients to understand their financing needs and the potential for ABL, Cashflow and Real Estate transactions to provide credit. You will collaborate across the firm, working with bankers and product partners to deliver sophisticated financing solutions to middle market and corporate borrowers.
Competences:
In-depth understanding of healthcare loans and credit risk generally. Must be able to quickly assess the strengths, weaknesses and overall feasibility of a potential transaction
Exceptional interpersonal skills. Must quickly build rapport with clients, prospects and bankers to seamlessly sell, deliver and close healthcare loan products
Highly self-motivated and ability to take independent initiative to develop network and source transactions
Ability to think strategically about overall client relationships, how each transaction fits into the broader Bank and Healthcare team goals.
Familiarity with a wide range of industries and collateral types
Fluency in a variety of capital structure components, from ABL, cash flow and real estate bank debt, to direct lender and capital markets loan products
Ability to effectively communicate with internal credit partners with clear thinking and credibility
Strong organizational and time management skills: high sense of urgency and ability to handle competing priorities with ease
Bring a “team-first” mindset to incorporating banking partners in origination activity and also in supporting the team where needed
Responsibilities:
Business development: identify and pursue new Healthcare opportunities through networking, referrals and banker outreach
Lead client and prospect calls in conjunction with commercial and corporate banking partners
Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, prospects and referral sources such as bankers, brokers, financial advisors and accountants
Create pitch books and executive summaries prior to client and prospect calls
Client and prospect assessment: quickly evaluate potential new transactions based on limited time and information
Lead diligence and research calls, focusing on key credit topics that must be addressed for initial deal assessment.
Prepare in-depth credit screening memos for new and existing clients
Monitor transactions in the pipeline from prospecting phase through closing
Guide deal teams to meet transaction deadlines and client expectations
Work constructively with underwriting and originations support staff to develop screening memos, credit packages
Maintain current pipeline in Salesforce through timely inputting of calls and deal flow
Travel to make pitches and develop internal and external networks
Coach and mentor junior originations staff, analysts and associates
Work experience:
10+ years of experience in Healthcare lending; Prior origination, underwriting and portfolio management experience strongly preferred
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in business (Finance, Accounting, Real Estate, etc.) or other relevant degree.
Training:
Formal Credit training program or equivalent work experience required
