Job Description Summary
Lamb Weston is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Systems Engineer to join our global infrastructure team. In this role, you will serve as a subject matter expert across our core systems stack — including VMware virtualization, Nutanix HCI, Windows and Linux server platforms, Rubrik data protection, and infrastructure automation using Ansible — and will be responsible to help support the design, implementation, and operational excellence of our on-premises, hybrid and cloud systems environments. You will collaborate closely with network, security, and cloud engineering teams to deliver reliable, scalable, and well-automated infrastructure solutions.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities
Virtualization & Hyperconverged Infrastructure: SME in VMware and Nutanix design, deploy and support and their supporting software and hardware
Windows Server Administration: SME Windows Server environments (2016/2019/2022/2025) including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and PKI/certificate services and Microsoft licensing
Linux Server Administration: Deploy, secure, and manage/troubleshoot enterprise Linux environments
Cloud: Deep understanding of infrastructure in the cloud, particularly Azure and AWS
Backup & DR: Implement and manage enterprise backup and data protection solutions including Rubrik, with experience in policy management, SLA configuration, live mount/instant recovery, and cloud archival
Automation: Lead infrastructure automation initiatives using Ansible, including development of playbooks, roles, and collections for configuration management, patching, provisioning, and compliance enforcement
Maintain and expand the Ansible automation framework, including Ansible Tower/AWX for centralized job scheduling and role-based access
Develop automation workflows that span cross-platform environments (Windows, Linux, VMware, Nutanix)
Promote automation best practices, code review standards, and version control (Git) usage across the systems team
Documentation: Design and maintain systems infrastructure documentation including high- and low-level design, runbooks and diagrams
Basic & Preferred Qualifications
10+ years of experience in global, enterprise-level systems engineering
Deep expertise in VMware and Nutanix ecosystems, with Proven hands-on experience
Strong proficiency in Windows Server administration including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS/DHCP, and hybrid identity (Entra ID)
Solid Linux administration skills including scripting, hardening, and service management
Hands-on experience with Ansible for configuration management and automation, including playbook and role development
Familiarity with Git-based version control workflows for managing infrastructure code
Strong understanding of storage concepts including SAN, NAS, NFS, etc.
Hands-on experience with enterprise backup and data protection platforms, particularly Rubrik and Commvault (SLA policies, live mount, cloud archival)
Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and hybrid infrastructure integration
Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, Rancher) and how they intersect with traditional infrastructure
