Position Description:

Designs and develops software applications using Java, SQL, ETL-Extract, Transform and Load and Frontier Reconciliation Tool. Develops applications that provide accounting and investment management support to businesses and mutual fund shareholders. Participates in team management using Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) and Acceptance Test Drive Development (ATDD). Delivers quality technology solutions to complex business problems in an Agile environment. Analyzes and recommends changes in project development policies, procedures, standards, and strategies to development experts and management. 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Participates in architecture design teams.
  • Defines and implements application-level architecture.
  • Develops applications on complex projects, components, and subsystems for the division.
  • Recommends development testing tools and methodologies and reviews and validates test plans.
  • Responsible for QA readiness of software deliverables.
  • Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications or subsystems.
  • Establishes full project life cycle plans for complex projects across multiple platforms.
  • Responsible for meeting project goals on-time and on-budget.
  • Advises on risk assessment and risk management strategies for projects.
  • Plans and coordinates project schedules and assignments for multiple projects.
  • Acts as a primary liaison for business units to resolve various project/technology issues.
  • Provides technology solutions to daily issues and technical evaluation estimates on technology initiatives.
  • Advises senior management on technical strategy.
  • Mentors junior team members.
  • Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) designing, developing and configuring software applications in a Financial Services, Mutual Fund, and Reconciliation environment, using Java Spring boot, Oracle SQL, PL/SQL, ETL, and Business Intelligence (BI). 

Or alternatively, Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) designing, developing, and configuring software applications in a Financial Services, Mutual Fund, and Reconciliation environment, using Java Spring boot, Oracle SQL, PL/SQL, ETL, and Business Intelligence (BI).

Skills and Knowledge:

Candidate must also possess:

  • Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) analyzing, architecting, and solutioning of automating manual reconnaissance processes by configuring them in the Frontier application and its components within UNIX and Windows platforms, using Oracle Database, PL/SQL, and Control M (for scheduling).  
  • DE performing database optimization and performance tuning, using Realtime SQL; monitoring reports using Oracle Enterprise Manager on an Oracle 19c database; optimizing queries using SQL Profiling and Optimizer Hints; designing and developing SQL and PL SQL -- stored procedures, functions, views, indexes, materialized views, triggers, and partitioning tables -- using SQL Developer. 
  • DE designing and implementing ETL data pipelines, using Informatica workflows, sessions, and mappings; developing reusable automation test frameworks, using Cucumber and Java; and plugging in test suites with test cases for ETL jobs capable of extracting trend reports and attaching with Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines. 
  • DE analyzing, designing, developing, and testing scalable Cloud-based full stack software applications, using Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), Java/J2EE, and SpringBoot framework; and building, deploying, and running secure Java applications on Cloud services -- AWS or Microsoft Azure -- using Jenkins, Udeploy, and Cloud formation according to Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) methodologies.
