The Digital Healthcare Business Unit at Analog Devices develops transformative products ranging from medical imaging to wearable sensing and in vitro diagnostics. We exist to accelerate human breakthroughs that enrich lives and the world. As our products evolve from integrated circuits to higher levels of full-system solutions at the edge of what’s possible, we seek a Mechanical Engineering Intern to help support bold experiments and accelerate our learning through prototyping, testing, analysis, and technology scouting.
The Successful Candidate
Have an interest in defining, designing, and driving to market sensing, electro-mechanical, and fluidic products within the medical device, wearable, or biotechnology industries.
Proficiency in Solidworks CAD and hands-on prototyping is a must.
Enjoys working cross functionally with EEHW, Software, Biomedical, and Useability colleagues and vendors will thrive in this role.
They must be energetic, collaborative, proactive, and able to multitask effectively.
Responsibilities and Opportunities for Growth
Assist with the definition, design and execution of high-fidelity mock-ups, prototypes, and test fixtures to test product and subsystem concepts.
Work with external vendors to source custom and off the shelf solutions for prototyping and testing
Support growth and operation of DHC’s in-house rapid prototyping capabilities.
Develop conceptual and detailed CAD to realize models and prototypes that inform the medical device design and development process.
Design and set-up experiments to investigate and down select system architecture and detailed design paths.
Learn about medical device design and manufacturing regulations at a pace that ensures your work output is contributing to Analog Device’s, customer’s, and user’s needs.
Report to a Senior Principal Mechanical Engineer with 30 years of experience and alongside colleagues with a range of functional expertise at various levels of experience
Qualifications & Requirements :
Available from January 2025 - June 2025
Achieved an equivalent of a junior undergraduate pursuit or recent receipt of an Undergraduate or Graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering
Strong academic and practical lab / project achievement in dynamics, fluidics and electro-mechanics
Demonstrated hands-on prototyping and empirical evaluation skills.
Confidence in CAD and CA Analysis skills with a desire to grow them.
Strong teamwork, inter-personal and communication skills coupled with a demonstrated ability to work at a high level of performance
High levels of motivation and creativity, with an outgoing, positive attitude, and inquisitive nature
Active interest in 3D printing and other rapid prototyping techniques and technologies
Desired Skills:
Experience with operating consumer grade or entry level professional grade 3D printers (FDM /SLA /MJP)
