Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a FFDR Systems Engineering Manager 3 Campaign Lead for the Strategic Deterrent Systems (SDS) division Engineering and Manufacturing team. This position will be located in Roy, UT or Colorado Springs, CO and will provide enabling support for all business areas within the SDS portfolio. Northrop Grumman supports the Air Force’s sustainment, development, production and deployment of hardware and system modifications for Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Ground and Airborne Launch Control Systems, Launch Facilities, and associated infrastructure.

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.    

What You’ll Get To Do: 

The Sentinel program has an exciting opportunity for a First Flight Design Review (FFDR) Campaign Lead on the Sentinel Systems Engineering team. FFDR is the Sentinel program's major program event (MPE) which establishes that the Sentinel first flight configuration is defined and ready to support the program's First Flight test event. The FFDR Campaign Lead has leadership responsibility for the FFDR MPE; they lead the development and integration activities for FFDR to enable success at the culminating FFDR event.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Event leader for the FFDR Chair.
  • Develops FFDR campaign strategy and associated roadmaps.
  • Establishes and conducts lower level / incremental build up activities and Technical Interchange Meetings (TIMs) to ensure a manageable risk posture for a successful FFDR MPE.
  • Briefing executive program and customer leadership.
  • Publishes plans, procedures, checklists and metrics in support of the FFDR MPE.
  • Monitors and reports technical, cost, and schedule progress to program leadership, customers, and stakeholders.
  • Develops and manages handling plans for risks and opportunities associated with FFDR MPE.
  • Ensures content is captured, presented, and delivered on time to support the campaign events
  • Responsible for compiling and delivering the FFDR data package.
  • Includes understanding the technical products that are input to the data package.
  • Provide down-and-in event support to other product segment teams across the program. This includes but is not limited to:
    • Creating strong partnerships with other product segment MPE leadership teams
    • Support data reviews.
    • Interpretation and implementation advisement for program plans, procedures, and checklists.
    • Participate in and provide lower-level execution event surge support as needed.
  • Establish and facilitate regular FFDR review / working group sessions regarding readiness metrics related to technical maturity and schedule.
  • Establish strong customer relationships and alignment regarding FFDR.
  • Provide leadership of event execution and closure of all action items.
  • Responsible for auditing the completion of all entry and exit criteria for FFDR.
  • Understand the scope and impacts of IMS givers and receivers that support successful FFDR.
  • Manage and reforecast the MPE schedule based on coordination with all impacted stakeholders
  • Lead FFDR planning during detailed rolling wave planning activities.

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Engineering, Mathematics or Technology (STEM) and 8 years of relevant experience; OR a Master's Degree in STEM and 6 years of relevant experience; OR a PhD in STEM and 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years in a formal management position.
  • Must be a US Citizen with an active DoD Secret Clearance with an investigation date within the last 6 years.
  • U.S. Citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access.
  • Experience in working with subcontractors and customers at all levels.
  • Experience in program reporting.
  • EVM certified with experience on reporting and VARs.
  • Ability to travel up to 10%.

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:  

  • ICBM experience.
  • Communication and leadership skills and experience leading small teams in a dynamic work environment.
  • Large scale / complex system development experience across multiple phases of a development program: preliminary design, detailed design, integration and test, verification and sell off, transition to production.
  • Experience with technical reviews for large scale and complex system development.
  • Experience with implementing and using model-based systems engineering tools, practices, and methods.

Salary Range: $156,000.00 - $246,400.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
