Job Description:

The Retail Market Manager (RMM) - Vermont provides leadership and direction to Stores assigned to a geographic Market. Drives service and advice goals through execution of behaviors and outcomes, coaching, rewards & recognition and talent management.  Acts as a community leader and representative of the TD Brand, developing new business opportunities and expanding relationships. Demonstrates a thorough understanding of market and economic trends.  Builds a transparent, positive and purpose driven work culture by leading, coaching and developing Store Managers and Store Leadership colleagues toward achieving overall Store/business results and professional/personal development objectives.

Depth & Scope:

  • Provides people management leadership by hiring the best talent, setting goals, developing staff, managing employee performance and compensation decisions, promoting teamwork and handling any/all disciplinary actions, as required
  • Provides leadership primarily to Community and Stores
  • Oversees and leads a network of diverse Stores while growing talent, developing skills and capabilities to achieve career goals, supporting project/initiative success and achieving business results
  • Possesses expertise in customer, products and channel strategies
  • Provides strong governance and stakeholder management
  • Executes consumer banking strategies in diverse geographic markets
  • Requires deep expert process management and deep expert knowledge of the risk profile for team processes supported, advanced knowledge in identifying, tracking and resolving gaps
  • Provides coaching, mentorship, and guidance to others within area of expertise
  • Manages and oversees the overall discipline and strategy for their assigned Stores while aligning to Bank's best practices
  • Oversees management of team requiring workforce to decision on acceptable level of risk (Moderate to High potential loss and/or reputational risk
  • Acts as the second highest point of escalation/contact within the Store and Market for issues raised from customers, other internal groups and/or partners
  • Involves regular contact with cross-functional teams across TD Bank or external contacts and/or customers

Education & Experience:

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years of relevant experience
  • Consumer lending experience preferred
  • Previous sales and business development experience a must
  • Exhibits strong leadership competencies, collaboration, flexibility, influence, innovative, creativity, integrity and passion
  • Strong project management skills with ability to influence at all levels
  • Proven ability to multi-task in a fast- paced sales environment
  • Proven ability to negotiate, manage relationships and influence across business lines
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Demonstrated sales administration and management ability
  • Strong understanding of store operations, policies and procedures
  • Proven analytical skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Extensive regional travel required

Customer Accountabilities:

  • Supports the Retail Market President with the execution of key bank and regional strategies, ensuring consistent messaging, coaching and Market management
  • Leads, coaches and develops Store Managers and Store colleagues on advice, behaviors and outcomes, operational excellence, Legendary Customer Experience, and business development in order to increase colleagues' confidence, elevate advice and help meet more customer needs
  • Assists in Region-wide projects with and for the Retail Market President
  • Proactively leads, manages, motivates and coaches Store Managers to execute growth results, advice and Customer Experience Strategies measured by designated metrics
  • Maintains strong collaborative relationships with relative business lines, partners and peers

Shareholder Accountabilities:

  • Provides direction, sets goals and ensures that Stores manage toward overall department objectives
  • Owns business performance (i.e. fully own scorecard) for Stores assigned to your Market and drives behaviors and outcomes to increase customer and colleague confidence, build community presence, achieve operational excellence and manage change
  • Communicates U.S., regional and/or Market strategies to the team and ensures alignment of Store strategies to the overall Bank
  • Coaches and develops colleagues to proactively identify customer product and services needs and to deliver on the business service and advice strategies and refer partners where necessary to support
  • Identifies and develops relationships with existing customers and external referral sources to generate demand for products/services
  • Ensures necessary due diligence to support the accuracy of all customer transactions/activities
  • Follows and ensures colleagues understand and apply bank operating policies and procedures
  • Meets TD's risk appetite and regulatory expectations by developing and coaching on evolving regulatory requirements; serves as first line of defense for Store-related operational activities by partnering with the Regional Delivery Excellence and Operations team
  • Maintains a culture of risk management and control, supported by effective processes in alignment with risk appetite
  • Future focused, foresees gaps and trends and influences direction across the Region, with Business Partners and will have an influence across the Market and Metro Market
  • Leads sales conference calls, makes direct sales calls and supports other business development efforts
  • Supports sales growth by collaborating with business banking and other lines of business by developing awareness of TD in the local community
  • Effectively manages controllable expenses and fee collection
