The Digital Merchandising Program Manager is responsible for defining, refining, and optimizing the MakerPlace content, social media & site merchandising strategy to inspire customers to visit MKR, search, browse, shop, buy & return. The role works collaboratively to maximize brand awareness, time on site, conversion, & GMV growth while minimizing customer bounce rate. Responsibilities include growing organic growth (ex: social & SEO), testing new site experiences, promotions/seasonal trends, marketing calendars, site KPIs, among others.

Major Activities

Brand Awareness/Organic Growth

  • Own MakerPlace’s organic social media strategy, testing new marketing experiences to grow brand awareness and organic sessions
  • Work across external agencies & internal teams to grow natural organic growth (SEO)

Site Content

  • Create an inspirational, seamless, shopping experience to help drive brand perception, encourage basket building, & enhance conversion
  • Own site experience and curation, focused on commercial volume driving opportunities and maximizing trends
  • Research and actively develop content and assortment opportunities

Site Merchandising

  • Own the site assortment and merchandising strategy
  • Curate assortment, researching selection gaps, and acquire new sellers to add to MakerPlace
  • Define and execute onsite search, browse, pinning, & boosting
  • Define and execute Michael’s cross-sell opportunities across both online & in-store
  • Lead promotional initiatives
  • Measure, analyze, and report how customers interact with the site across devices to drive strategic, actionable recommendations for conversion

Other duties as assigned, including leading ad hoc projects as requested by leadership

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in merchandising, marketing, business, math, finance, economics or related field; or equivalent experience
  • MBA preferred or commensurate work experience
  • 4-7+ years of experience in site merchandising, ecommerce, business development, category management or marketing
  • Experience in consumer-focused eCommerce environment, preferably in lifestyle industries
  • Proficient in ecommerce, ecommerce marketplaces, and ecommerce services and software
  • Thorough understanding of desktop, mweb, and app technologies
  • Detailed understanding of eCommerce & content management systems and infrastructure
  • Experience using reporting tools (SQL, Looker, etc)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, and PowerPoint or equivalent Google Suite applications
  • Ability to think creatively, strategically and technically
  • Strong oral and written communication & interpersonal skills
  • Must be competent in Microsoft suite, including executive level presentations
  • Experience in using web analytics tools
