Job Summary

Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures performs diagnostic MR exams utilizing appropriate imaging equipment and techniques. Follows Beaumont philosophy of Patient and Family Centered Care at all times.

Essential Functions

  • Verifies patient identification and physician order.
  • Provides procedural information/education to the patient/family prior to each exam.
  • Acquires an accurate patient history and documents in the medical record.
  • Ensures MRI safety form is completed by patient/designee/floor RN and reviews information with patient/designee immediately prior to patient entering MRI scanning room.
  • Safely and proficiently operates MR imaging equipment.
  • Places IV’s as required for injection of contrast media.
  • Performs procedures according to MR protocols.
  • Performs MRI and related patient care procedures using age appropriate methods for patient’s physical ability and/or limitations.
  • Monitors patient during examination to ensure their safety while in the MR Suite.
  • Ensures STAT requests are relayed to radiologist in a timely manner.
  • Ensures equipment is wiped down between patients and exam room is clean and properly stocked with linen and supplies.
  • Uses effective inter/intra-departmental communication and participation with medical staff, management, technical and support staff.
  • Accurately and efficiently uses hospital computer systems for verifying orders, viewing schedules and sending information to PACS.
  • Performs quality MR Scans after verification of patient identification and physician order.

Qualifications

  • Required Associate's Degree Graduate of Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) Accredited Radiography program.
  • 1 year of relevant experience 1-3 years clinical experience beyond staff radiographer level. Preferred
  • CRT-Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist (MRI) - ARDMS American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography 1 Year required
  • CRT-Radiographer (R) - ARRT American Registry of Radiologic Technologist Upon Hire required Or
  • CRT-American Registry Of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (MRI) - ARMRIT American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists Upon Hire required
  • CRT-Radiologic Technologist Registration - ARRT American Registry of Radiologic Technologist Upon Hire required
  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association Upon Hire required
  • CRT-Basic Life Support Instructor (BLS INSTR) - ARC American Red Cross Upon Hire required
