POSITION SUMMARY:

The Grounds Operator operates a variety of light to medium equipment and vehicles and performs manual labor as necessary for snow removal, maintenance, repairs, and construction improvements to resort parking lots, roads, grounds, and facilities. Performs all grounds, landscaping, and parking lot duties required of a Grounds Skilled Laborer. Maintains grounds and parking areas in a clean, attractive, and reasonably safe manner. Prepares grounds for summer and winter resort operations.  Trains in the operation of front-end loaders, shuttle buses, and 12-yard dump trucks as skill level warrants. Follows policies outlined in the Employee Handbook. Complies with all regulations set forth by the Colorado Department of Transportation and Motor Vehicle Bureau.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

General Responsibilities:

  • Excellent Interpersonal skills with a positive attitude.
  • Perform opening and closing procedures.
  • Control of vehicles into lodging check-in, reserved, visitor, pay, short term, disabled, and clinic parking. Control access to deliveries, shuttles, emergency vehicles, and construction vehicles.
  • Monitor gates & pay for equipment in the parking garage. Manage pre-maintenance program, troubleshooting, and repairs.
  • Print & distribute parking tickets as needed.
  • Collect, reconcile, and deposit pay parking fees.
  • Creates & distributes guest parking permits.
  • Assist guests and employees with directions and information in a friendly, professional manner. Effectively handle first-line conflicts and resolve problems.
  • Responsible for cleanliness, snow removal, and maintenance in and around hut and gates including signage.
  • Public and employee safety
    • Be alert for potential hazards involving vehicles, pedestrians, and equipment. Take responsible action to prevent accidents.
    • Report and/or correct any unsafe conditions.
    • Assist with the vehicle, public, and employee accidents as required. Follow accident reporting procedures.

Other Duties:

  • Interact with SkiData for repair, purchases, and training
  • Assist with parking lot operations as needed for special events
     

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Valid Colorado Driver’s License; clean MVR required.
  • Background check required; no criminal record
  • Competence in the operation of point of sale software and other software applications, computers, calculator, copiers, scanner, handheld radios
  • Mechanical skills in troubleshooting and repairing pay station and gate equipment
  • Ability to communicate effectively; verbal and written. Must speak English fluently.
  • Ability to maintain records, prepare accurate reports and make accurate mathematical computations.
  • Ability to direct the work of others; train, coach and manage performance.
  • Ability to exercise initiative and sound judgment and to act with discretion under varying conditions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with the public, employees, Homeowners, Property Management personnel, Commercial Tenants, NSCD participants, Pay parking season pass holders, Resort staff and departments, Service vendors, local law enforcement, and TOWP maintenance.
  • Ability to work a flexible work week and be available for overtime as needed.

Supervisory Duties:

  • Train other crew members in all hut procedures. Schedule full coverage.  All revenue processing, reconciliation, and reporting.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

  • High school diploma or GED desirable.

Experience:

  • Familiarity with Winter Park Resort and surrounding services; town and valley desirable.
  • Two or more years working with the public in a high-stress environment.
  • Experience with point of sale software and cash handling.

WAGE:

Hourly pay: $19.33-$21.33
