ENGINE PROGRAMMER INTERN

What You'll Do

We are looking for a Core Framework Programmer Intern to help us build out our Framework technology stack. As part of the team you will be primarily focused on supporting and extending our data recovery workflows within UE and UEFN and extending and improving our visual scripting systems towards future support for Verse scripting.

In this role, you will

  • Work towards building Epic’s vision of the Metaverse within Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN).
  • Work on systems bridging the gap between foundational level core engine technology and the end users of our editor and engine framework.
  • Cover areas including Blueprints, UEFN’s SceneGraph, and Verse.
  • Build long lasting and highly visible editor functionality to improve end user productivity.
  • Expand early tooling around data retention and recovery following any underlying class schema changes.
  • Work alongside a UX designer as well as an embedded engineer to build user friendly interfaces for that tooling.

What we're looking for

  • C++ skills and knowledge of programming principles.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrated ability to communicate fluently in English (written and verbal). This role will involve interactions with team members across the Engine group.
  • Self-motivated, with a strong work ethic.
  • User-focused, passionate, solutions-focused, and innovative. These traits equal success at Epic and influence everything we do.
  • An interest in UX and workflow design would be preferable.

This internship has a flexible start date in 2025. Recruitment will be ongoing until teams find an ideal match. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the posting location for the duration of the internship. For more information about Epic’s Early Career Program, visit epicgames.com/earlycareers.
