About the Role:

Virgin Media Television is seeking a Vision Mixer to join our Broadcast Operations team. The successful candidate will work as part of this team, bringing some of Virgin Media Television’s flagship programming to air. They must possess a high degree of technical proficiency in vision mixing and have an unrelenting attention to detail and quality 

Specific Duties & Tasks:

• Operation of vision mixing consoles for live and pre-recorded programming

• Seamless switching between multiple video sources such as camera, VT’s and incoming external feeds

• Use of transitions such as wipes and flying keys

• Creation of mixed effects including picture in picture effects, split screens and chroma keying

• Responsible for in-programme graphic overlay using in depth knowledge of downstream keying principles

• To work effectively and collaboratively within a fully multi-disciplined Broadcast Operations team 

• Have the ability to work as-directed during productions

• Continuously look ahead ensuring there are no issues with studio sources and incoming feeds

Skills & Expertise:

• Must possess a high degree of technical proficiency in a broadcast control room environment 

• Excellent knowledge of broadcast television principles

• Excellent knowledge of existing television production processes and have a keen interest in emerging technologies

• Good disposition to keep calm under pressure should unexpected issues arise during production and the ability to plan a recovery 

• Have an unrelenting attention to detail and quality 

• Must possess strong interpersonal skills and be able to build relationships with key internal stakeholders working across various content genres in addition to other support staff
